«Οὐκ ἀρνησόμεθά σε, φίλη Ὀρθοδοξία, οὐ ψευσόμεθά σε, πατροπαράδοτον σέβας. οὐκ ἀφιστάμεθά σου, μῆτερ εὐσέβεια. ἐν σοὶ ἐγεννήθημεν καὶ σοὶ ζῶμεν, καὶ ἐν σοὶ κοιμηθησόμεθα. εἰ δὲ καλέσει καιρὸς καὶ μυριάκις ὑπὲρ σοῦ τεθνηξόμεθα. τῶν τοῦ Χριστοῦ ἀποστόλων ἐσμὲν μαθηταὶ τῶν λεγόντων, ‘ὁ τοῖς ἀκοινωνήτοις κοινωνῶν καὶ αὐτὸς ἀκοινώνητος. Καὶ εἴ τις ἀκοινωνήτῳ, κἂν ἐν οἴκῳ συνεύξηται καὶ οὗτος ἀφοριζέσθω’» (Βρυεννίου τ.
