The Unpardonable Sin

The Lord said, “I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come” (Mt. 12:31-32; cf. also Mk. 3:28-30 and Lk. 12:10).

What is this “unforgivable sin” or “unpardonable sin” or “blasphemy against the Holy Spirit”? How does such sin relate to my life? Could I have possibly committed such sin for which I will be never forgiven?

If you have any fears and concerns that perhaps, unbeknown to you, you have committed the unpardonable sin, most likely you have not committed it! Those who have committed such sin would have no regrets and scruples about it! They would have no interest in the forgiveness of God.

Early on, the Church had a strict interpretation of the sin against the Holy Spirit. We see this in the Acts of the Apostles, when Ananias and his wife dropped dead because they had lied to the Holy Spirit (Acts 5). The Church understood the sin of apostasy, committed after one had joined the Church of the believers, as an unpardonable sin. The letter to the Hebrews refers twice to such a sin:

For it is impossible to restore again to repentance [to re-admit them to the Church as penitents] those who have once been enlightened [baptized], and have tasted the heavenly gift [received Holy Communion], and have shared in the Holy Spirit [displaying the special gifts of the Holy Spirit], and have tasted the goodness of the word of God [being exposed to the Holy Scriptures, which were reserved only for the believers] and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, since on their own they are crucifying again the Son of God and are holding him up to contempt. (Heb. 6:4-6)

And again, “For if we willfully persist in sin after having received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful prospect of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries” (Heb. 12:26-27).

The letter to the Hebrews is not the only one which takes such a strict view. St. Peter holds the same view,

For if, after they [the false teachers] have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overpowered, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment that was passed on to them. It has happened to them according to the true proverb, ‘The dog turns back to its own vomit’ [Prov. 26:11] and ‘The sow is washed only to wallow in the mud’ (2 Pet. 2:20-22).

St. Jude too refers to those who had gained entry into the Church (Jude 6), though “secretly,” “people devoid of the Spirit” (v. 19), “for whom the nether gloom of darkness has been reserved for ever” (v. 13): they have been already condemned because of their destructive teachings.

Only the unrepentant sin is unforgivable.

Today, the Church understands as “unpardonable” only the sin for which people do not ask God to forgive them, that is, when people reject stubbornly Jesus Christ and His gift of eternal life to the end of their lives. Therefore, only the unrepentant sin is unforgivable. Anyone who sincerely repents of his sins and asks for God’s forgiveness will receive it. No human offence is beyond divine forgiveness. The Church forgives any sin committed, as the Lord commanded us to forgive, even unto “seventy times seven” (Mt. 18:22), that is always. Occasionally for very grave sins the Church may cut someone off from Holy Communion, that is, from Christ our life. This is a temporary measure done in order for us to realize the severity of our sin and to come to complete repentance. We should view such action as therapeutic in nature. It is to be compared to a very sick person who needs to eat very light foods and avoid meat and solid foods, which would harm him.

  1. Aristotle says a life span constitutes an age or aion. So He would say one age is Christ’s birth up until he died. He would say A second age would be while Christ was dead. And Aristotle would say A third age would start when Jesus rose from the dead.

“Aion, transliterated aeon, is a period of longer or shorter duration, having a beginning and an end, and complete in itself. Aristotle (peri ouranou, i. 9,15) says: “The period which includes the whole time of one’s life is called the aeon of each one.” Hence it often means the life of a man, as in Homer, where one’s life (aion) is said to leave him or to consume away (Iliad v. 685; Odyssey v. 160).”(https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universalism) (Word Studies in the New Testament by Marvin R. Vincent. http://www.tentmaker.org/articles/aionole.htm )The rest of the Marvin R. Vincent article goes on to explain away all the other competing antigospel definitions and uses of the word Aion.

Replace the English word Age with the original greek word Aion.

“Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but
anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either
in this age or in the age to come” (Bible, New Testament, Matthew
12:32) THE FIRST AGE began at Jesus’s Birth: The “this age”. THE
SECOND AGE began at Jesus’s Death: “the age to come”. THE THIRD AGE
began at Jesus’s Resurrection: And is the current age and also is the age when blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is forgiven. The Third Age goes on forever. ALL GO TO HEAVEN because blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is forgiven. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is the term word for unbelief. ALL GO TO HEAVEN because ALL UNBELIEF IS FORGIVEN. There is no unforgiven sin. Jesus died for ALL. ALL GO TO Heaven. EVEN THE UNBELIEVERS – Christian Universalism

The Bible and Matthew 12:32 was originally written in Greek Language. Bible Matthew 12:32 in its original text as it was first written reads like this: “Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this Aion or in the Aion to come” (Bible, New Testament, Matthew
    12:32)

    .

The New Testament of the Bible was originally written in Greek. Greek was the language people spoke when Jesus was on earth and also the language in all that Roman land. So when Jesus spoke greek and used the Greek word aion(age) he would have meant a short amount of time just how it is defined in greek language and would have used it to describe the amount of time from his birth until he died, and the amount of time he was dead, and the time onward from when he rose from the dead. Because that is how the greek word Aion was understood by people back then because That was how Aristotle used the Word Aion in his writings. And Jesus would have wanted to make himself understood.

    .

We know Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is forgiven at the third age because forgiveness was Jesus’s plan, and Jesus’s plan came to fruition at his resurrection. So forgiveness for Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit came to fruition at Jesus’s resurrection.

Aions are about Jesus and not about Israel.

“As already noted, the Dispensationalist teaching of prophecy takes Jesus from the center of all prophecy and replaces our blessed Lord with the state of Israel. In Luke 24:44, Jesus says, “All things which
are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” Dispensationalists, in effect, have recast this section of God’s Word to say, “All things written about the state of Israel in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”” (Good News Magazine Prophecy Issue 35, Concordia Mission Society, P.O. box 8555 St Louis MO 63126)

I was born Lutheran. I was Baptized in The Lutheran Church as a 1 month old infant. I went to church regularly. I learned in Sunday school. I was confirmed in the Lutheran Church. I am Lutheran. I believe everything the Lutherans teach although with the added belief that Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection was successful and powerful enough to forgive unbelief(blasphemy against the Holy Spirit) and so take ALL to Heaven.

    .
Jesus forgave blasphemy against the Holy Spirit a long time ago when He rose from the dead, and not in the 4th Aion/age when Jesus ascended to Heaven or the 5th Aion/age when Jesus comes back to earth or some latter Aion/age after that because Jesus is Good. Otherwise Jesus is Not Good, and therefore not God. And it is forgiven in the 3rd Aion/age when Jesus rose from the dead, because all that power of bursting the gates of death of ALL deaths must have flowed like water into the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit at that time and forgave it otherwise Jesus is withholding forgiveness, and that is not good. And that would mean Jesus is not good and is holding a grudge and is therefore not God along with his Father and Holy Spirit.

Bible New Testament 12:32 is the Key Stone of the whole Structure.

“And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” (Bible New Testament Matthew 16:18) This is the doctrine that is the Rock. The Church is built on the forgiveness of Blasphemy Against The Holy Spirit. The Church is Built on Unbelief being Forgiven and Unbelievers be taken to Heaven just as well as Believers. The Rock that the Church is Built on is Jesus Died for ALL ALL go to Heaven. You can Not lay another foundation for the Church. Jesus Died for ALL ALL go to Heaven is what the Church preached allways its first 500 years before Rome took over and took away the rock upon which the Church was Built. Peter Expressed unbelief 3 times before the rooster crowed. Peter Blasphemed the Holy Spirit 3 times before the rooster crowed. The Church is Built on the Doctrine of Blasphemy Against The Holy Spirit being forgiven, and Not on the Person(apostle) named Peter.

It is Ironic the more You try to not blasphemy the Holy Spirit the more there is the temptation to Blaspheme the Holy Spirit. And the more You believe the Bible, the scarier Matthew 12:31-32 is if You don’t have the original Greek Bible Passage.

Our Christian Salvation is in actuality Blasphemy Against The Holy Spirit.
