Persecution

To be constantly persecuted, with brief intervals in between, is a characteristic of the Faith and of the Orthodox Church. This persecution existed throughout all of history, either from without or from within; externally from unbelievers and internally from heretics.

No one is on my side

Indeed, when I look around, I seem to have no one on my side. I can only pray that I might be found in the number of those seven-thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal (1 Kg 19:18; Rom. 11:4). I know that those who are persecuting all of us right now seek my life; but this will not lessen the zeal which I owe to the churches of God one bit.

Books will be your guides

In the last years, evil and heresy will have spread so much that the faithful will not find a priest and shepherd to protect them from error, and to advise them to salvation. The faithful will not be able to receive safe instructions from people, but their other guide will be the texts of the Holy Fathers. Especially in this age, each believer will be responsible for the whole pleroma of the Church…

The real enemy of Christianity is not Atheism

Men became atheists in order to be saved from God, hiding their head and closing their eyes like an ostrich. Atheism, my brothers, is the negation of the Roman Catholic and Protestant God. Atheism is not our real enemy. The real enemy is that falsified and distorted “Christianity”.

Western “Crusaders” against Orthodox Russia

Protopresbyter Theodore Zisis1 is Emeritus of the Theological School of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki. He was defrocked by the Ecumenical Patriarchate and received by the Church of Greece as an unpaid cleric. He has stated that he is considered by some “an unruly and rebellious clergyman”, and that he was defrocked because of his austere criticism of the “shameful and treacherous text” produced at Balamand (Lebanon, 1993), where he was a representative of the Orthodox Church in dialogue with the Roman Catholics. Read more about Fr. Theodore (in Greek).

1. The example of Orthodox Serbia. Kosovo and Ukraine.

All those who who have no historical background and are following what is happening these days on the border of Ukraine, in the conflict between the western alliance of NATO and Russia, where the “new Crusaders” are aiming to detach Ukraine from its historical and geopolitical connection with Russia and to join it with the Western alliance of the Franco-Latin, papal and Protestant West, cannot understand the justifiably the strong reaction of Russia and probably justify not Russia to defend itself, but justify the attacking new Crusaders of the West.

Once again, they are taking up arms to achieve whatever they did in their drawn out war against Orthodox Serbia after the break-up of Yugoslavia. After the intervention of the Pope [John Paul VI] and the local wars, the independent “Catholic” states of Croatia and Slovenia were established with territorial arrangements at the expense of Orthodox Serbia. NATO itself intervened in 1999 (March-June) and with a relentless, murderous bombardment against Serbia which lasted for months, they disbanded its military force and forced them to withdraw from the historic cradle of their civilization, Kosovo, which they handed over to Muslim Kosovar Albanians, filling the Balkans with new independent Franco-Latin protectorates, Euro-American, papist and Muslim, who encircled Orthodox Serbia, but also wavered between Eastern and Western Greece. The latter, as a member of NATO, facilitated the military operations, however the conscience of the people sided with defending Orthodox Serbs.

The Vatican’s incitement to the ambassadors of western countries by the mouth of Polish pope Paul VI himself, was indelibly recorded by a Greek member of the European Parliament:

“Arm the Muslims and disarm the Serbs.”

Just as Kosovo is the cradle of civilization, both national and Christian, for the Serbs, so also is Kiev in Ukraine for the Russians. Kiev was the first capital of Russia and was where their Baptism, their Christianization took place (988 AD), and from there, centuries onward, Russian Orthodoxy, Russian culture developed, with glorious temples, renowned monasteries, and great ascetic Saints.

Even after the conquest of their territory by the Mongols in 1240 AD and the transfer of the capital, first to Vladimir and finally to Moscow, Kiev was still considered Russian territory and was claimed by the Russians. After the Mongols, the region was conquered by the Poles, and for two centuries until 1654 AD, after the victory of the Russians over the Poles, the parenthesis of the Polish conquest of their territories was closed and the unity of Moscow and Kiev was restored.

Throughout the Polish conquest, and in part of the Lithuanian conquest in some Russian territories, Kiev became the center of activity for the Jesuits and the Uniates, where, along with the latinization of the Orthodox and their ecclesiastical independence from Russia with the creation of a separate Kieven Metropolis, a systematic attempt of ethnic detachment was undertaken with the cultivation of a Ukrainian consciousness, Ukrainianism, and the systematic development of Russophobia.

Nowhere in the annals of Greek history is the word “Ukraine” found, but rather, the Russian nation is presented universally by geographical population characteristics, such as Greater Russia, Little Russia, White Russia. Today’s Ukraine is Little Russia, Moscow is Greater Russia and Belarus is White Russia. What is happening today in Ukraine with the growing Russophobia and the attempt at Westernization has its roots back in history in the attempts to polarize and latinize the inhabitants.2

2. Russian Odessa receives and honors the remains of the hieromartyr patriarch Gregory V

It is worth mentioning, in the context of celebrating the 200-year anniversary of the 1821 revolution [2021 AD], the glorious reception given by Russia, by both Church and State, of the body of hieromartyr Patriarch Gregory V, in June 1821 in the city of Odessa, in Russian Odessa, because at that time there was no Ukraine. After the miraculous recovery of his relics from the sunken “Bridge of Galatia” ship of Ioannis Sklávos, a captain from Cephalonia, his relics were transported under a Russian flag to Odessa where they were buried with imperial honors.

G. Papadopoulos in his book, History of Gregory V, Patriarch of Constantinople, Champion of the Greek Revolution, when mentioning preparations for the patriarch’s funeral, says that the general ordinance for the order had Russian commander Count Alexander Theodorides Lanzheron, Commander General of Little Russia, venerate the holy incorrupt relics first, and then the clergy. For over three days “a great multitude of people, all very reverently, flowed into the church from the nearest provinces of Little Russia.”3

Constantine Economos

In the eulogy which was delivered by the great teacher of the Greek nation, Constantine Economos in Odessa on June 19, 1821 at the Russian Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Savior, among other things, addressed the following to the late patriarch:

“Although Your full holy Synod is not surrounding your person, but surrounds your relics as to a trunk of a palm tree, respected Shepherds and priests on behalf of the most holy Synod of the Russian Church, although you have not been buried by now in high honors in the land of Greece not groaning, but are being buried with high honors in a free land, and are honored luminously by both your compatriots here present and by the brave and God-fearing Russians, of the kind who are reverent in faith, together with their victorious mighty Greek fighters whom she has found to honor and to publicly defend divine and human rights.” 4

So then, in Russian Odessa, not Ukrainian, was the hieromartyr and ethnarch patriarch Gregory V buried, by Russian hierarchs and priests, Orthodox believers with the Synod of the Russian Church, in Little Russia, today’s Ukraine, and it was not some pseudo-autocephalous Ukrainian church which honored and glorified the earthen abode of the heroic patriarch.

A return of thanks and gratitude was made by the Greeks to Orthodox Russia and the Russian Church with festal, laudable eulogies on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the 1821 revolution in 1871, when the translation of the patriarch’s relics from Odessa to their deposition in the metropolis church in Athens took place.

From the multitude of relevant references we will only relate what the poet Aristotle Valaoritis writes in the Prologue of the shocking poem “Statue” which he recited the following year on March 25, 1872, in front of the statue that had been prepared. It begins with the verses:

How do you gaze on us motionless?…
To where does your mind run?

He writes in the Prologue among other things:

The holy relics of the great ethnomartyr of Greece remains three whole days hung upon the gallows, but then handed over to the maniacal mob of people and slandered on every street and alleyway of Byzantium, as someone mortally unworthy of burial, and was cast into the depths of the Bosphorus.

But God Most-high took it from the belly of the sea and entrusted it into the hands of Orthodox Russia, which returned him imperial honor and a service commensurate to the monstrous enormity of the cruel crime perpetrated and the high cost, which was held for the executed patriarch amid the full assembly of the Church.”5

3. The target of the western Crusaders, old and new, is the Orthodox Church. What Saint Nektarios says.

We opened a parenthesis about patriarch Gregory V to show, as an example, that in the historical consciousness of Greeks and Russians, Kiev, Odessa, and all the southern shores of the Pontian Black Sea have historically been considered Russian territory, and just as the Crusaders of NATO fought against Orthodox Serbia in the 1990s, as they did in the past with the Polish and Lithuanian conquests of the territories of Little Russia (Ukraine), so they are also doing today with their attempt to delimit Ukraine from Russia, politically and ecclesiastically, and join them to the western landscape.

nato scorecard

Political independence was certainly achieved after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1990, however the cultural connection of the two brotherly peoples continued, and continues, as does the ecclesiastical attachment to the Russian Church which patriarch Bartholomew tragically worked against, by his collaborating with the western Crusaders who dissolved Byzantium and profaned Constantinople in 1204 AD, essentially collaborating against the Orthodox Church.

The aim of the heretical West, incited by the Devil, is to, in time, dismantle the Orthodox Church, that is, the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, and to de-Christianize the Orthodox East, as it has already de-Christianized itself. This demonic crusading behavior goes very far back, to the conquest of Constantinople by the Pope’s Crusaders in 1204 AD, which, according to respected historians, weakened the then planetary Greek empire, and after sixty years of slavery to the Franco-Latins, they returned only to be subjected under the Turkish yoke in 1453 AD, to the great joy of the West, who had filled the Greek land with Franco-Latin states and had encircled Constantinople, as they are encircling Moscow today. They thought they would extinguish the flame of Orthodox culture and leave only the materialistic, rationalistic, and distorted western culture, which is no way Christian.

Theodore Karakostas

I will not quote historical accounts from the many which exist, about the barbarity and pillaging, about the hatred of the Crusaders against the Orthodox of Constantinople. I will only mention what Saint Nektarios says, things that are not well known, and from these, two other interesting aspects about the present-day ecclesiastical reality emerge.

At the outset, the claim by ecumenist clergy and theologians is squashed, that Saint Nektarios was a Pope sympathizer. He also shows the age-old hypocrisy of the papacy and the worldly diplomatic discourse, which, on the one hand seeks to apologize for as much suffering they have brought upon the Orthodox people, while on the other hand encourages and blesses the wars and attacks against Orthodox people.

It is obvious who the Vatican supports today in the confrontation in Ukraine between the West and Russia: the United States and NATO (as they did also in the 1990’s in Serbia, supporting the “Catholic” states on the borders of Russia, the Uniates) and the Ukrainian schismatics, and not the right of Orthodox Russia to defend itself from those who are encircling.

The popular and gentle Saint Nektarios of Aegina, among the most eminent Saints of the 20th century, writes:

“The hatred of the Greeks by the Western church inspired the entire West to make the ignorant peoples of the West fanatical enemies of the Greeks, whom they considered heretical enemies. These Latin leaders, of whom the populace was ignorant, believed every profane slander and calumny against the Greeks by the organs of the Papal see, and they accepted as undisputed truth everything that these clergymen said about the privileges of the Roman See, and about the heretical dystopia of the Greeks.

The Crusaders, an ignorant and fanatical mob, fed half as much to the Greeks as they did to the Ottomans. The fall of Constantinople under the Crusaders, the wild Vandals of the West, sealed the schism. The Crusaders, by their actions and deeds, showed that Western Christianity was a monster, while Pope Innocent III testified that he was not their true shepherd and guide.

In the meantime, the Pope wrote a letter to the Crusaders, in which he views them as instruments of divine will, and in the first half of the letter he seems to shame them for the horrible evils, whatever was done against the Greeks, ‘whom they loathed as dogs’, and in remainder he blesses their work, considering it a work of divine will.

Innocent also wrote an encyclical to the Church of the West saying that the Lord wanted to comfort his Church through the union of the schismatics, remove the Empire from the arrogant and superstitious and disobedient Greeks, and to give her to the humble, reverent, orthodox, and obedient Latins!

How truly wonderful the infallible Pope appears, with his reliable point of view concerning the will of the Lord! But not every Pope is so admirable.” 6

4. The Romanization of Byzantium was weakened. Orthodox Russia was strengthened.

From the 7th century, the violent, aggressive, antichrists of Islam took away vital land from the world-renowned Greek empire of Byzantium in Asia and Africa, however, as a counterbalance to their territorial losses, God foreordained to raise up Orthodoxy in the Balkans and in the North for the Slavic peoples, among whom Holy and Great Russia glorified Orthodoxy and was glorified by it.

It is certainly divine regulation that shortly before the breakaway of Papism from the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church at the beginning of the second millennium, in 1054 AD, when the efforts of the West began to destroy Orthodoxy with the Crusades and the Uniates, Constantinople had acquired a strong Orthodox ally – the Russians – to whom it transmitted the Orthodox Faith, assuming, moreover, centuries of devotion, support and protection, in the face of the Franks of the Pope, but also in the face of the new strong Islam of the Ottoman Turks, to whom they were subjected after the tragic fall of Constantinople in 1453 AD.

Just as Constantinople was a splinter in the eye of the West, and did everything in order to destroy her either by deeds (the crusades) or by omissions (they did not send aid to the Turks), the same happened to the powerful Orthodox Russia of the Tsars, with Holy Russia of the pre-Communist years. As a strong protector of Orthodox peoples, it constituted an unassailable wall of security against the “Holy Alliances” of the West, which eyed the East for economic and cultural reasons.

The conscience of the enslaved Greeks under Turkish rule, who expected the “blonde race”, the Muschovites, to come and take back Hagia Sophia, was strengthened with important actions taken by Russia, militarily and politically. If it was sometimes let down, it showed over the provisions. In any of the selfish pursuits of the West toward the resolution of the infamous “Eastern Question”, that is, about the partitioning and distribution of the Ottoman Empire, a counterbalance was the might of Οrthodox Russia.

The subjugation of Russia with a war was certainly shown to be unattainable, from the example of Napoleon and later of Hitler. However, the post-Soviet was utterly weak with the break up of the Soviet Union and the dearth of strong leaders, which resulted in the cessation of the diarchy, the polarity between America and Russia during the Cold War, which resulted in only America ruling and dominanting in the world. This is also why the crusaders of NATO dared the unprovoked and needless war against Orthodox Serbia.

However, because the head of the Church and ruler of the world is Christ, not the pope, nor Washington and Berlin, He directs the course of history and the world, Christianity in the West, and now in “Orthodox” Greece, which finds itself at a tragic impasse. Europe is being de-Christianized and converted to Islam; frightful pedophile scandals are shaking the rotted foundations of the papal clergy, whose bishops who do not believe in Holy Scripture and deny the Resurrection of Christ; homosexuality is justified and homosexual marriages are blessed; feminist insolence and arrogance repeat the sin of Eve; the family is broken up, the university is spoken ill of, civil marriage and civil divorce prevail; adultery is decriminalized; sex education is introduced at school in the first grade; pansexualism triumphs; the clergy have been secularized and adapt to what the sinful world desires; pan-religion and Ecumenism are already the customary expression of the Christian faith; and many regions of Europe are converting to Islam, with thousands of mosques going up and piercing the air of formerly Christian Europe.

The Orthodox East which was crucified, and is being crucified by the western Crusaders, endured and continues to endure. It did not convert to Islam, not even with the violence of the Muslim conquerors and became, over the centuries, the breakwater and stronghold of the senseless West.

Now that the atheistic storm of Communism has passed, Orthodox Russia is rebuilding and growing stronger under worthy and capable political leadership. It legislates and organizes social life with Christian and Orthodox values. The Crusaders of the West threaten, thinking they will succeed as much as they succeeded with Constantinople in the past, and with Serbia in recent years.

We did not expect, as all Orthodox not seduced by ethnoracial criteria, that what the West did not achieve throughout the entire second millennium, to break through and divide the Orthodox, would be achieved at the end of the millennium and the beginning of the third millennium: the instigation of a rivalry and conflict between their two powerful centers, the historic Constantinople, now weakened politically and ecclesiastically, and powerful cosmopolitan Moscow, which the West underestimates, envies, fights, and seeks in every way to humiliate in whatever way it can, as they succeeded in doing with the old empire of the Bosphorus.

5. Constantinople: Ally of the West and pioneer in cooperating with the Papists and Protestants

The politically and ecclesiastically weak Constantinople, especially after the Asia Minor Catastrophe and the stripping of its population (1922), was persuaded to be healed by turning exclusively and admirably to the West, which mortally embraced the Ecumenical Patriarchate, and changed it into a tool of the geopolitical architects, a captive of the Vatican and the World Council of Churches (WCC), and the diplomatic methods of America and Europe.

One article cannot possibly encapsulate this new, extremely dangerous reality for the unity of Orthodoxy, for the unity of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, as was seen clearly in the pseudo-synod of Kolymbari, Crete (2016) (which was organized and conducted under American supervision), and in the American-instigated, methodical ushering of the schismatics of Ukraine to pseudo-autocephaly (2018), interfering in the canonical jurisdiction of the Church of Russia and ignoring the local canonical Church of Ukraine, under Metropolitan Onuphry.

We will cite as many as three young researchers who have credentials, for those who are interested in more data. In the academically audited and approved doctoral dissertation entitled, “The Ecumenical Patriarchate in the throes of the Cold War: The election of Patriarch Athenagoras (1948)”, Paul Seraphim, after studying anecdotal archival material of the diplomatic and ecclesiastical archives of the USA, Great Britain, Greece and Turkey proves that the election of Athenagoras was the result of outside intervention on the part of the West, and certainly of the USA.

As Ilias Kouskouvelis, professor of International Relations and former dean of the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, writes in the preface of the book, the election of Athenagoras

“was the result of outside interventions on the part of the West, and, we see, of the United States. This was the first time that the United States not only dealt at the highest level with what is happening in an Orthodox land, but decisively interfered in order to ensure the pro-Western orientation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.” 7

The author of the dissertation also writes:

“It was of vital importance for the United States that the Ecumenical Patriarchate remain in their sphere of influence, or at least not let them pass to the enemy. We must consider, in this context, how it was beneficial and also feasible at the same time for a patriarch to remain on the Ecumenical Throne, in order for him to be subjected, and suggesting that there was friendly relations toward the Russians, and, correspondingly, how sensible it would be to elevate a cleric to patriarch whom the Americans would have known well, with no doubt about his ideological orientation toward the West.” 8

The monk Seraphim Zisis, someone well acquainted with geopolitical developments, and moreso of ecclesiastical history and ecclesiology, in an article entitled “Patriarch Athenagoras, US policy and today’s Ukraine”, writes conclusively in the Epilogue:

“The elevation to the Throne by the documented Mason, Patriarch Athenagoras I (1948-1972), as it has been proven today by formerly classified documents of the US State Department, was the most characteristic case (although not the last) for the enslavement of ecclesiastical polity of the Ecumenical Patriarchate to the geopolitical designs of the USA, with the aim of limiting Russian influence. Unfortunately, this halt was not only to atheistic, Soviet Russia, but is also directed against Orthodox Russia today, simply because it is strongly opposed to the decadence of Western civilization and the geopolitical strength of the Western Alliance.” 9

Charalambos Mináoglou, a renowned historian who has made serious scientific contributions to the history of Hellenism and Orthodoxy, in a study, a presentation entitled, “The Phanar as Pioneer of American Politics: The geopolitical consequences of the Ukrainian schism” writes,

“In order not to hide behind our finger, the USA, those who rejoice very much over the dividing of Orthodox people in general, as well as the division of the Orthodox people in Ukraine, hope that the strengthening of the schismatic church over the canonical church, will help cultivate an anti-Russian mentality there, together with the mercenary organs of the American secret services and the various NGOs. No matter how you think about it, one cannot find any other reason behind this action of giving the schismatics autocephaly other than to serve ill-intented American interests. NATO, the great hegemony to which Greece has also submitted, wants to divide the Orthodox world as much as possible in order to weaken the only force that can challenge its sovereignty – Russia.” 10

The same author posted an article on the internet entitled, “What is happening in Ukraine? Who is to blame? What is Greece’s interest?” In a postscript to the article, referring to the ecclesiastical dimension of the Ukrainian question, he writes with bitter irony:

“If, at any rate, we [Greece] are obliged to send some troops, even a few, to fight Russia as part of our obligations as members of NATO, we could send the Russian-eating Greek-speaking archbishops, those who, led by the Ecumenical Patriarch, anathematize Russia with their ecclesiastical policy every day, and who with their war on the Russians have, so far, lost half of Africa, while at the same time have completely cut themselves off from the more than 200 million Slavic Orthodox Christians.” 11

The “Inaudible prayers” should be read out loud

Originally posted on Feb 10, 2020.

We believe that the so-called “inaudible” prayers should be read out loud, to the hearing of the faithful, so that the people of God may participate more fully in the celebration of the Divine Mysteries. We have addressed this subject in our book, The Heavenly Banquet,1 and we draw this post from it, with some editing.

The subject of the liturgical prayers read by the celebrant — whether he should read them inaudibly or to the hearing of the faithful — has been hotly debated in recent years, particularly in Greece and Cyprus, but also here in America. Among the voices raised in favor of reading the prayers out loud are those of St. Tikhon of Moscow and St. John of Kronstadt. The latter is quoted to have said, “The priest or the bishop recites many prayers to himself; it would be much more interesting and profitable for the minds and hearts of Christians to be aware of the full text of the Liturgy.”

One of the key points we have made throughout The Heavenly Banquet is that the prayers the priest reads softly to himself should be heard by all the people. The prevalent practice of reading such prayers “inaudibly” does not make sense for two reasons:

First, because the people hear only the conclusion of a prayer, introduced by a conjunction (“for” or “so that”), to which they have to respond with their Amen, without having heard what the prayer is about; second, because such prayers divide the Ecclesia between clergy and people, the latter deemed not worthy to hear the supposedly “secret” and “arcane” prayers. Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev calls the offering of the prayers silently a “barrier between the priest and his flock.”2

The early Church did not pray silently. Why should the priest pray silently when the Lord instituted the Holy Eucharist loudly and directed His disciples to do what He did? There is unequivocal testimony that the Church since the beginning did what her Founder did, as well as the way He did it. The Apostle Paul (writing about A.D. 50) presupposes that the prayers offered were said loudly: “If you offer your blessing with the spirit, how can any one in the position of an outsider say the ‘Amen’ to your thanksgiving when he does not know what you are saying? For you may give thanks well enough, but the other man is not edified” (1 Cor. 14:16-17).

In the Didachē or The Teaching of the Apostles (ca. A.D. 90-110) we have the earliest mention of a rudimentary Anaphora prayer, and of the thanksgiving that follows offered by the people.

St. Justin the Martyr (ca. A.D. 165) says that the celebrant

“sends up praise and glory to the Father of the universe through the name of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and offers thanksgiving at some length that we have been deemed worthy to receive these things from him. When he has finished the prayers and the thanksgivings, the whole congregation present assents, saying, ‘Amen.’ ‘Amen’ in the Hebrew language meaning, ‘So be it.’” 3

Clearly the prayer was offered to the hearing of the people.

One hundred years later St. Dionysius of Alexandria († A.D. 264 or 265) offers us an even stronger testimony, saying that the people “listened to the Eucharistic prayers and joined in the Amen.”4

The Council of Laodicea (A.D. 364) prescribed that “after the Catechumens and the Penitents are dismissed, three prayers for the faithful shall be said, the first silently and the other two be said viva voce.” Today, the first of these prayers is eliminated, while the other two whenever they are said are said silently.

The Constitutions of the Holy Apostles (written ca. A.D. 380) has the hierarch say a very long Anaphora out loud, at the end of which it says, “And let all the people say, Amen.” 5 So much so was the Great Anaphora Prayer of Thanksgiving said aloud, that bishops were elected depending upon their ability to offer extemporaneously a beautifully crafted prayer! The West early on settled with only one Anaphora Prayer, which became known as the Canon. Eventually the Orthodox Church in the East adapted first the Anaphora Prayer of St. Basil the Great, and later one settled with the shorter Anaphora Prayer of St. John Chrysostom.

St. John Chrysostom († Sept. 14, 407), after whom the Divine Liturgy is named, “gives us tangible proof that in his time the Liturgy continued to preserve its earlier, completely open character and the audible reading of the Eucharistic prayers was the norm”:

“In the most awful mysteries themselves, the priest prays for the people and the people also pray for the priest; for the words, ‘with thy spirit,’ are nothing else than this. The offering of thanksgiving again is common: for neither does he give thanks alone, but also all the people.’”

St. Justinian the Great in his 137th Novella (issued March 26, 565) protested vigorously and forbade the practice that had crept in, to recite the priestly prayers silently. Struggling in vain against this innovation, and referring to Romans and I Corinthians 14, he decreed:

We command that all bishops and presbyters pronounce the prayers of the Divine Anaphora and Holy Baptism not secretly, but with a voice that can be heard well by the faithful people, so that the minds of the listeners would be moved towards greater compunction and thanksgiving to God. It is fitting that prayers to our Lord Jesus Christ our God, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, in all occasions and at other services be pronounced loudly [meta fōnēs]. Those refusing to do so will give their answer before God’s throne and if we should find out, we will not leave them without punishment. 6

A liturgist notes the following: “Justinian was concerned to stamp out an innovation which he rightly considered harmful to liturgical devotion. He was unsuccessful, and his failure opened the way to a fundamental change not only in liturgical practice but in popular Eucharistic piety.” 7

Indeed, this practice is “harmful to liturgical devotion” and the defense of its continued practice, other than “it is tradition,” is untenable. However, “by the 8th century the secret reading of the Anaphora becomes the commonly accepted practice.” This is inferred from an incident recounted by John Moschos (beg. 7th C.), who attests that “because the presbyters in certain places recited the Anaphora Prayer out loud the children learned it by heart.” However, he must have been critical of this practice, because he attributed their being struck by lightning to their repeating the Anaphora Prayer.

Possible reasons reading inaudibly became prevalent

Various opinions have been advanced for the reasons that gave rise to this significant change. A. Golubstsov listed a few reasons why the prayers ceased to be read publicly:

  1. In an effort to reduce the growing length of the liturgy, the prayers were read silently by the priest as the deacon was intoning the petitions.
  2. The secret reading became incorporated into the disciplina arcana (‘secret discipline’) whereby it was felt that those who were ‘uninitiated’ were unable to hear about the mysteries of the faith or of worship. This encouraged the previously mentioned division between the clergy and laity.
  3. It was closely related to the period when the practice of frequent communion ceased. (This last point is not a reason, but it attributes the change to a general weakening of the faith.)

The late Archbishop Christodoulos of Athens († 2008) gave his reasons for the change from loud to “secret” “either because [the priest] had a weak voice, or because his voice was not heard well on account of the distance and the lack of loudspeakers.” He was in favor of bringing back the ancient practice of the loud reading of most prayers, especially of the two great prayers of the Holy Anaphora. Fr. Alkiviadis Calivas opines that, “It was introduced probably out of deep reverence for God.” He also reports that “The Ecumenical Patriarchate… has recommended and has urged its clergy to read the prayers of the Divine Liturgy and especially the Anaphora aloud.” This is encouraging, except that this “recommendation,” to my knowledge, has not been communicated to the clergy of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

That the holy Anaphora prayer was too sacred to be heard by profane ears is not a plausible explanation. After all, the words of the Institution are said aloud! Other prayers not so arcane (such as those in the first part of the Divine Liturgy) are also said “inaudibly.” Today, with the current education of both clergy and people, and the use of sound equipment, there is no justification for retaining a practice that arose out of circumstances that no longer exist.

The current practice of chanting (or singing by a mixed choir, introduced in America and elsewhere) to “cover” the time it takes the priest to recite the prayers to himself, seriously harms the full participation of the people in the Liturgy, and shifts their focus of attention from what is taking place to an atmosphere of a recital. Also, by removing these prayers from the ears of the faithful, the service becomes unintelligible to them.

Opponents to the practice of reading the prayers out loud argue that the long-standing practice of reciting the prayers “secretly” gives certain legitimacy to the practice. “How could such practice be carried on for some 1,400 years unless it was the work of the Holy Spirit?” they say. We could reply that the same thing happened with the frequency (read infrequency) of the reception of Holy Communion. But we are not going to. Long practice alone is not enough. There needs to be a good justification, and there isn’t any for today’s reality.

Another argument advanced is that the wide attendance of the Divine Liturgy by non-Orthodox and even non-Christians precludes these prayers from being divulged. It is felt that the mysterium arcanum is not preserved. Which precisely are the words that must be kept secret? Today everything is in print. What we shout over the rooftops shall we whisper in our house of prayer? Besides, the Canons of the Church are trampled upon when we allow non-Orthodox, even non-Christians, to be present during the Divine Liturgy – in places of honor at that! – when according to the holy Canons not even Catechumens are allowed to be present in the “Liturgy of the faithful”!

Still others will say that the secretive recitation creates an atmosphere of mystery conducive to prayer for clergy and people alike. They are not called mysteries because they are supposed to be kept concealed and secret, nor because they create an atmosphere of mystique and mysteriousness. Our mysteries are not cabala, magic incantations and hocus-pocus. They are mysteries because they are sublime, incomprehensible and unfathomable, and they give life to those who approach them with faith.

The current usage of reciting sotto voce the Great Anaphora Prayer of Thanksgiving, the most important prayer of the entire Liturgy, is unacceptable, even offensive to the people. Especially the Anaphora contained in the Liturgy of St. Basil the Great, celebrated on the Sundays of Great Lent, is a superb synopsis of the core of our worship, which should be read aloud and slowly despite its length. How can this prayer remain secret and hidden from the faithful? It should be read in its entirety, even if we would have to curtail the sermon!2

This is a sermon the faithful should memorize – as the children did in earlier times – before the iPhone, Facebook, Twitter and Internet were invented. We plea for its reading out loud, for the edification of the holy people of God. They deserve it. They are entitled to it. We are glad that it has been introduced in many metropolises in Greece and in Cyprus, as it is in many parishes in the United States.

We conclude by emphasizing that Liturgy is not a spectacle, a theatrical play, a concert, where we go to see and hear something staged. As the word liturgy says, it is the work of the people, so all the faithful gathered are expected to be active participants not passive spectators of the sacred Mysteries celebrated. The people of God must take charge of their parts, their replies, their hymns, and their prayers.

“The people standing in the church are not passive attendees, but are co-celebrants with the officiating priest or bishop, and they must be able to follow the course of the Liturgy and participate in the prayers. Only in this way can the Liturgy be real liturgy–common worship–and the Church an ecclesia—the people of God assembled for the Eucharist.” (+ Archbishop Paul of Finland)

APPENDIX

We bring four rather extensive readings to emphasize the importance of the liturgical prayers and the need to read them aloud. The first is from St. John Chrysostom’s Sermon 18 of Second Corinthians:

But there are occasions in which there is no difference at all between the priest and those under him; for instance, when we are to partake of the awful mysteries; for we are all alike counted worthy of the same things: not as under the Old Testament [when] the priest ate some things and those under him others, and it was not lawful for the people to partake of those things whereof the priest partook. But not so now, but before all one body is set and one cup. And in the prayers also, one may observe the people contributing much. For in behalf of the possessed, in behalf of those under penance, the prayers are made in common both by the priest and by them; and all say one prayer, the prayer replete with pity. Again when we exclude from the holy precincts those who are unable to partake of the holy table, it behooves that another prayer be offered, and we all alike fall upon the ground, and all alike rise up. Again, in the most awful mysteries themselves, the priest prays for the people and the people also pray for the priest; for the words, “with thy spirit,” are nothing else than this. The offering of thanksgiving again is common: for neither does he give thanks alone, but also all the people. For having first taken their voices, next when they assent that it is “meet and right so to do,” then he begins the thanksgiving. And why marvellest thou that the people any where utter aught with the priest, when indeed even with the very Cherubim, and the powers above, they send up in common those sacred hymns? Now I have said all this in order that each one of the laity also may be wary, that we may understand that we are all one body, having such difference amongst ourselves as members with members; and may not throw the whole upon the priests but ourselves also so care for the whole church as for a body common to us.

The second quote is from Archbishop Paul of Finland:

How can the whole assembly of God’s people participate in the sacrament of redemption with full understanding and true feeling and realize that they are a royal priesthood bringing spiritual offerings, if they hear only fragments or closing sentences of the common prayers without being aware of their meaning as a whole? As this is still most often the case, the people present can only follow the service without any other support than their own personal mood of prayer or else remain a more or less distracted audience. In the latter case people tend to pay special attention to the outward, aesthetical side of the Liturgy, and indulge in admiring the splendour of the service and the fine singing. It is true that these aspects, reflecting the heavenly glory of God, have their own value, but only as a framework for the content of the Eucharist. They must not become ends in themselves. The early Church lacked any outward splendour; Eucharistic solemnity was found in the joyous encounter with the Risen Christ.” (The Faith We Hold, St. Vladimir’s Seminary Press, Crestwood, N.Y. 1980, pp. 48-49.)

The third testimony comes through the penetrating and illumined words of Fr. George Mastrantonis of blessed memory:

The inaudible prayers are approximately one half of the Divine Liturgy … The prayers embody the substance of the Divine Liturgy… The spoken words, taken without a knowledge of the inaudible prayers in reference to the Mysterion of the Holy Eucharist, are incomplete … In the early Church, prayers for the sanctification of the Holy Gifts were freely selected or composed expressing the same meaning and belief in the Mysterion of the “change” of the blessed Species, Bread and Wine, into the Very Body and the very Blood of Jesus Christ. At that time, the whole Liturgy was read and chanted aloud by the priest (Proestos) and the people. Even later, at the time of St. Chrysostom, the prayers were read aloud. Later still, because of the emphasis of mysticism and for other reasons, the prayers, which in themselves contain the heart of the Mysterion, were designated to be read inaudibly by the priest within the enclosure of the sanctuary. The grandeur and meaningful depth of the inaudible prayers of the Holy Eucharist, which are not heard by the people, is a loss and privation of the faithful. This is especially true of that part of the long Prayer of Sanctification, the Epiclēsis, which is at the very moment of the sanctification of the Holy Gifts, but no longer read audibly, although its content includes the faithful. The faithful are urged to read the inaudible prayers with reverence and thoughtfulness in order to participate more fully in the Divine Eucharist.” (The Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom of the Eastern Orthodox Church, O Logos Mission, St. Louis, Missouri 19662, p. 62.)

The fourth and final quote is from Fr. Alexander Schmemann, addressing primarily to the Great Anaphora Prayer of Thanksgiving:

Already for several centuries now, the laity, the people of God, whom the apostle Peter called “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people” (1 Pt. 2:9), have simply not heard and thus do not know this veritable prayer of prayers, through which the mystery is completed and the essence and calling of the Church herself are fulfilled. All the faithful hear are individual exclamations and fragmented phrases, whose [sic] interconnection — and sometimes even simple meaning — remain unintelligible, as in: “…singing the triumphant hymn, shouting, proclaiming and saying…” If we add to this the fact that in many Orthodox churches these prayers, being “secret,” are moreover read behind closed royal doors, and sometimes even behind a drawn altar curtain, then it would be no exaggeration to say that the prayer of thanksgiving has for all practical purposes been dropped from the church service (Protopresbyter Alexander Schmemann, The Eucharist, Sacrament of the Kingdom, translated from the Russian by Paul Kachur, St. Vladimir’s Seminary Press, Crestwood, New York 1988, p. 172).

In order to simplify this post we have omitted the notes, which can be found in our book. Testimonies by four distinguished authorities, St. John Chrysostom, Archbishop Paul of Finland, Fr. George Mastrantonis and Fr. Alexander Schmemann are appended.

Under current practice, the prayers of the Holy Baptism are recited aloud, a fact which points to the reason why the prayers of the Divine Liturgy are not. Whereas in the Divine Liturgy the chanting “covers” the priest during the recitation of the prayers, in the Holy Baptism we do not have any hymns to function in a similar fashion, except for the Katavasiae, in which case they do “cover” a number of prayers.

GIVING WITNESS TO THE TRUE CHURCH

Orthodox Christians all over the world have received the unchanging Christian Faith, passed down from the Holy Apostles to their successors, and continue to practice it today in the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church – The Orthodox Church.

An outline of the future world state,
its makings and its makers

Article translated by Anthony Hatzidakis from the original Greek, Dec. 29, 2023: Παγκόσμιες ημέρες και παγκόσμια νύχτα (World Days and World Night). The images and photos included here are from the author’s article.

Over the last thirty years, strange holidays began intruding into our daily lives. Year after year, the new calendars that were printed began to include customarily incongruous and unrelated holidays, instead of the established holidays of an Orthodox Christian country like Greece, which the students had to honor in schools, and also the rest of the citizens through different actions.

They all had one main feature: the word “Global” or “International”. Who and with what authority decided that we should also introduce into our Greek-Christian everyday life pagan and dangerous-for-Hellenism holidays, such as the celebration of the summer solstice, the world day of yoga, or the day for people of African descent?

The world state and its organs

It is now urgent that the Greeks learn to recognize who is responsible for all this. Who imposes these changes and why? What is the Big Picture?

So here it is:

The shadowy priesthoods of power are not new, but have been operating in our world since ancient times, periodically attacking human societies with extreme violence and bloodshed.

The world state that these priesthoods are trying to establish has a Parliament, the United Nations (UN), and a Constitution, the 17 Goals of the UN for Sustainable Development, also known as the “2030 Agenda”.

The Objectives – articles and paragraphs of this Constitution are implemented through the following UN “Ministries” that issue Resolutions:

  • FAO – Food and Agriculture Organization
  • ILO – International Labor Organization
  • IMF – International Monetary Fund
  • ITU – International Telecommunication Union
  • UNESCO – United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
  • UNIDO – United Nations Industrial Development Organization
  • UPU – World Postal Union
  • WBG – World Bank Group
  • WHO – World Health Organization, etc.

as well as through the “Deputy Ministries” which also issue “instructions”:

  • UNCTAD – United Nations Conference on Trade and Development
  • UNICEF – United Nations Child Protection Fund
  • UNHCR – High Commissioner for Refugees
  • UNITAR – United Nations Institute for Education and Research
  • UNEP – United Nations Environmental Program
  • UNDP – United Nations Development Program, etc.

These Ministries and Deputy Ministries present themselves as experts and their resolutions concerning very critical issues that regulate all areas of life must be incorporated into national legislation.

However, beyond the visible organizations of the UN there are others, invisible to the general public, which are nothing more than masonic Lodges (known as the Guild), other secret brotherhoods and countless think tanks that actually propose the resolutions of the UN, and national policies according to their worldview, which is possessed by three main characteristics: authoritarianism, misanthropy and hatred of Christianity.

So basically, the world government has been around for many years and has wrapped in its net most of the states, turning them into federations of continents, it just doesn’t have a… prime minister yet.

This role is reserved for the expected Messiah of all the aforementioned “organizations”, who, for Christians, however, is the Antichrist.

The world state and secret societies

A prominent role in the religion of the world state is held by the theosophical, Non-Governmental Organization Lucis Trust, originally called the Lucifer Publishing Company in honor of Lucifer. But in order to overcome the fears of prospective converts, in 1922 it was renamed the Lucis Trust.

This NGO was founded by the theosophist Alice Bailey and was a construct of the British Secret Service with the aim of religious syncretism and espionage operations against other states.

In 1923 Alice Bailey created the Arcane School, a polygynous catechism to promote the infamous Aquarian Age, and in 1932 the narrative of World Goodwill which is, in essence, an organized social engineering enterprise, in order to convince the European peoples thenceforth that their salvation consists in a universal government of enlightened mysteries.

Alice Bailey was a student of the occultist Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, founder of the Theosophical Society, while her husband, Foster Bailey, was a 32nd degree mason.

We point out that both were agents of the then British Empire and worked for the “Pan-Europe” plan of Count Kudenhove-Kallergis in collaboration with the League of Nations, the predecessor of the UN.

aperopia

Today the Lucis Trust is still an official advisory body of the UN. But is it possible for the UN to have a theosophical, occult organization as its advisor? Of course, you did not read wrong, since the occultists are the ones who shape most of the actions of global governance.

Coincidentally, one of the headquarters of the Lucis Trust is located in Geneva, Switzerland, and is housed in the same building as the World Jewish Congress, the world Jewish association ORT , and the Defense for Children International organization that defends open borders.

The world state and its religion

The Lucis Trust religion advocates the existence of a Divine Plan. This plan is supposed to be dictated by an “inner spiritual government” of our world called the Spiritual Hierarchy, or Society of Enlightened Minds or Ascended Masters or Masters of Ancient Wisdom.

According to the divine revelations given to the Lucis Trust, the Spiritual Hierarchy consists of highly evolved… extraterrestrial beings who incarnate on our planet as great mystics and sages.

These Masters of Ancient Wisdom are twelve and each of them represents a ray of divine light. The Lords are repeatedly incarnated on Earth and come from specific planetary bodies: either from Venus, or from planets of the Sirius system, while the Ancient of Days, Sanat Kumara or otherwise God-Melchizedek descended to Earth… 17 million years ago.

The Divine Plan that you can read here in English is nothing but detailed instructions to governments and politicians on how to establish the world state and world government.

No, this is not conspiracy theory which this blog abhors. Everyone can verify it on the official blog of the organization that also publishes Alice Bailey’s books in Greek.

Apart from the Lucis Trust, all the think tanks and secret fraternities that control the UN General Assembly are possessed by a Babylonian, Egyptian, Gnostic, Kabbalistic, Masonic, Illuminati, and always anti-Christian worldview, which we Greeks also must integrate.

But why would we do such a thing? We have no reason to.

Another proof of the occult character of the UN can be found in the famous Meditation Room, at the UN headquarters in New York.

This room has the shape of a trapezoid, while in the middle of it there is a large monolith of black granite, which, placed on a special pedestal, acts as a magnet of energy fields that it transfers to the ground of the building and it symbolizes the Supreme Mason Mystic.

The room contains only ten seats, dedicated to the ten great unseen theurgists of our world, corresponding to the ten sephiroth-emanations of the Tree of Life of the Kabbalah, who, sitting, can see the extension of the room, which has the shape of the well-known unfinished illuminati pyramid.

aperopia

The polygons of the composition are 72, as many as the names of Deity in Kabbalah, the 72 steps of Jacob’s Ladder, the 72 Kabbalistic angels designated “for the healing of the nations”, and the 72 bricks that make up the Illuminati pyramid of the US dollar with the all-seeing eye.

The secret hierarchy of power that is behind the occult UN, and is clearly anti-Christian, nevertheless decides the destinies of most of the peoples of the world, including the Orthodox Christian Greek.

By what right? By what popular mandate? With none of course. These are unelected bodies.

From alchemy and Jacobinism to human rights

The occult agenda of the shadow hierarchy is very old. It begins with the Babylonian, Egyptian priesthoods and Hermeticism, not to mention much earlier, to continue uninterrupted until the Gnostic era, to survive until the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, finally reaching our days.

Its basic Great Work (Magnum Opus / Great Work which today the World Economic Forum rechristened “Great Reset – Great Restart”), like the Divine Plan of the theosophists, originates from alchemy and indicates the processing of raw man and the transformation of societies.

The term Magnum Opus describes personal and spiritual transformation. In our time, the alchemical “processing” of separating the perishable man from disease and death, thanks to technology, leads to posthumanism.

Conditions of the Magnum Opus are the dissolution of Christianity that emerged as an enemy in the last 2,000 years, depopulation, hermaphroditism, the imposition of a pan-religion with worship of the Great Architect of the Universe (MAtS) / Supreme Being, and its purpose is the one it always had: the dominance of the Guilds and other adjuncts over all the rest.

aperopia

One of the greatest attacks of the occultists on humanity was the French Revolution by the Democrats/Jacobins which resulted in the declaration of the infamous rights of man which most young Europeans have not realized are being manipulated against them, nor who they were, in reality, who made the revolution.

In 2021, History repeats itself once more:

As during the Reign of Terror in France, Robespierre’s Jacobin/Illuminati occultists turned their politics into a new religion, with the excuse that the Republic plunged France into utter horror, today, in the same way, the new order hierarchy is trying to implement the agenda which the Jacobins were unable to complete.

But the Jacobins were actually directed by the Illuminati Lodges of Vienna and the enigmatic Junius Frey, a Jewish heretic Frankist and a relative of the heretic Jacob Frank, the paranoid founder of the Frankist movement, who believed himself to be the new Jewish Messiah.

The Jacobins, who had the ultimate goal of overthrowing the French monarchy in favor of the Austrian one, tried everything in order to mass-murder those unfortunate French “who were not committed to the Revolution”, just as Lenin’s Bolsheviks did: massacres, executions by guns, beheadings by guillotines, drowning in the Loire, baking in bakers’ ovens, scraping their skins which the Jacobin generals wore proudly as trousers, spitting and crushing the bellies of pregnant women under heavy wine presses!

The argument that the inhabitants of an entire province, Vendée, were pro-monarchist, does not explain the inconceivable brutality of the Jacobins against thousands of infants, children and wives of their own soldiers when they were killed in battle, and they and their children were left unprotected.

The daily, unnecessary human sacrifice had become their habit, which can only be explained by the Illuminati, Martinist and Francoist origins of their leaders, who sought human sacrifice in order to forcibly “transform” French society, as the Davos Forum, the Guild, and various other gangs are currently seeking to transform it.

aperopia

In those days they had all the churches closed and forbid the holy services by law. They do the same today because they have the exact same ideology.

The heirs of those murderers also enforce today’s human sacrifices through the unethical prohibition of self-employment due to a pandemic, and through inoculations with experimental vaccines of unknown consequence.

The Christians were horribly persecuted, while the ecstatic Jacobins erected signs of the Supreme Being in the streets, betraying the faith of their hierarchy in Freemasonry and Illuminatism. Today the idol statues have been replaced by the UN World Day celebrations!

aperopia

However, although the Vendée massacre claimed 800,000 victims, it was never classified as genocide, nor was an International Day of Remembrance for its victims established by the UN, because the UN could never condemn its perpetrators.

World days and constant terrorism

So an important means of implementing the Magnum Opus / Great Restart are the so-called World UN Days which are basically religious holidays, and which have multiplied exponentially in recent years.

World Days unequivocally express both the theology and the divine work of the aforementioned secret societies, which turn the politics of globalization into a new religion.

They do not simply express an atheistic or agnostic, secularized worldview, but a profoundly anti-Christian position. This is what the phrase war is spiritual means.

The list of declared world days of “honor” will continue to grow, and it is certain that if this sick state of oppression of humanity by the World Hierarchy is not reversed, it will soon include a day of remembrance for persecuted bestialists and pedophiles and whatever other corrupt perverts, in order to roll mankind in abysmal mire.

aperopia

Because according to their beliefs, only in this way will the rebuilding of the third temple of Solomon in Jerusalem (on or next to the Al-Aqsa mosque) and the coming of the Jewish Messiah (who as a world leader will bring a thousand years of peace, making the Earth a paradise) be accelerated.

Only, for those who are Christians, this Messiah is not Jesus Christ, but the Antichrist; and the rebuilding of the third temple, if it is built where they say, will bring hell on Earth, i.e. global nuclear war before the millennial era of peace.

World Days are thus a schizophrenic obsession of gang-communicating vessels in their ideologies and an effective means of genocide.

When we look closely at when most were enacted, we find that they were decided after 2001, the alleged attack on the Twin Towers in New York and the introduction of the Western world into the new Terrorism.

Here is why:

After 2001, and especially after 2008 and the global financial crisis resulting from the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers, with worldwide consequences to the peoples, because ISIS, the heir of al-Qaeda, had now faded as an enemy, its replacement had to be invented at all costs so that societies would be kept in a state of perpetual fear. This enemy could only be a global health hazard that, with the help of social engineering, would become permanent.

This is why the young people of the West, who are also the #1 target of the priesthoods, have been brought up since 1991 and thereafter, to not be able to react to what is being done against them, but to eventually commit genocide of their own accord.

The operations of the post-Zionist and Anglo-Saxon priesthoods of power have methodically eroded the national foundations of Western states at their root: their education and their Christian faith.

Millions of children were and are being raised with the New Age narrative of theosophy, aquarianism, the global village, and above all, the entitlements of man.

However, these millions of children of the Western world until 1945 and the creation of the United Nations, were brought up with the ideals of patriotism and Christian faith. So what happened? After 1948 – which coincidentally coincides with the creation of the state of Israel by the Zionist movement – these ideals slowly but surely began to experience a methodical attack that undermined the foundations of Christian societies.

It had the following characteristics: it channeled constant hatred and ridicule towards Christianity, Jesus Christ, country, nation, family, heterosexuality, native customs and traditions, culture and history, for the benefit of occultism worldwide, and now today, posthumanist mush.

Over the years, the Jacobin religious beliefs that bloodied France during the Reign of Terror were introduced into societies, and Eastern religions infiltrated, yoga, meditation, theosophy, paganism, cabalism, the worship of Gaia, esotericism, global terrorism, open borders, and the rights of minorities over the rights of nations, using among other things, the Trojan horse of World Days.

This is how we arrived at the current phenomenon of the lack of critical ability of the younger people in the face of the violation of their political liberties by the elites, with the argument of the new enemy of humanity, the corona virus pandemic.

This alchemical transformation of Western youth also explains the lack of reaction on its part for the violations of its constitutional freedoms, which it is not in a position to recognize, and which since 1991 have been systematically crushed under a completely arbitrary interpretation of human rights which the UN imposes and as many governments as are threshed by the Guild.

aperopia

So here are some of the World Days that reinforce in the collective unconscious of the European peoples the consolidation of the federalization of the continents, which was so dreamed of by the first Prime Minister of Israel, Ben Gurion, and the wealthy Mengele of the World Bank group and other gangs.

To save space, we do not list all of them, but some, the year of their proclamation, and a brief explanation in dark red. If you want to see them all, click here.

JANUARY

January 24

International Education Day, 2018.

The resolution basically implies distance education, as dreamed of by the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4, which will probably also mean the abolition of school buildings.

FEBRUARY

February 4

International day of human brotherhood, 2020.

It implies a federalization of the continents in view of a world state.

February 20

World Social Justice Day, 2007.

Always applies to minorities.

MARCH

March 21

International Nowruz Day, 2010.

This pagan holiday of the vernal equinox is celebrated on the steppes of Asia by Afghans, Azeris, Persians, Turkmen, Tajiks, Kyrgyz, Kazakhs, and Turks. Why isn’t a Christian holiday declared an international day instead?

March 22

World Water Day.

It is understood in relation to the narrative that it should be privatized.

March 25

International Day of Solidarity with Detained and Missing UN Staff, 1993.

No kidding! How will the children internalize that the executives and employees of the UN are the modern saints and martyrs?

APRIL

April 7

Remembrance Day for the victims of the genocide in Rwanda in 1994.

Why are the genocides of the French of Vendée, and of the Armenians, Pontians and Assyrians by the Turks not worth remembering?

April 20

Chinese Language Day at the United Nations, 2017.

Chinese superior to Greek? And for this resolution alone, the UN deserves the rejection and ridicule of the Greeks.

April 23

English Language Day at the United Nations, Spanish Language Day at the United Nations

I apply the above mockery.

MAY

May 8-9

Time of remembrance and reconciliation for those who lost their lives in the Second World War, 2004.

So that some annoying people like the Greeks no longer demand war reparations from the Germans whose names are now officially withheld as those responsible for mass holocausts of the Greeks and so that the younger Europeans don’t dislike them, because today they are financially crushing the rest of Europe.

May 15

International Day of Families, 1993.

Blessing in the eyes of children and young people of the family reunifications of illegal immigrants and the benefits they receive at the expense of European taxpayers. The relevant resolution emphasizes that “it mainly concerns the advancement of women and families in developing countries”. Translation: to the invasion of Europe by the populations of countries with high birth rates at the expense of the taxpayers, not the Guild that hatched the idea of illegal immigration to Europe and usually evades taxes.

May 26, 2021

The international celebration of Vezak Day, the May Full Moon, and Buddha Day will begin at UN Headquarters and other offices, 2000.

This is the Buddhist Full Moon Day which celebrates the birth, enlightenment and death of the Buddha, who, according to the relevant UN resolution, “humanity is grateful to him for the spirituality he has offered for more than two and a half thousand years”. The celebration was certainly suggested by the Lucis Trust, which states on its website that it was dictated by the Lord of Wisdom, Tibetan teacher Djwal Khul to Alice Bailey in order to reach East and West and hasten the arrival of the… Messiah. In any case, it especially serves China well…

JUNE

June 3

World Bicycle Day, 2018.

To get the younger people used to poverty and not owning a vehicle, always with the justification of protecting the environment.

June 5

International day against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing, 2018.

Celebration to brainwash Greek children, criminalizing the fishing of our small traditional boats, kayaks and trawlers, as a criminal act that destroys the ecosystem, blessing the fish multinational fish farms (the ones full of dioxins, antibiotics, and hormones), as well as those caught by the North Atlantic factory ships that destroy the fish fauna in their path. Pandemic fishing bans are a pilot implementation of sustainable fishing.

June 7

World Food Safety Day, 2019.

Demonizing the natural foods of the Greek countryside and blaming them as unsafe, so that the younger generation considers the foods of the multinationals to be normal, and of course the artificial meats, which are expected to flood the world market.

June 16

International Family Remittance Day.

It implies the bank transfers of illegal immigrants in Europe to their relatives in their home countries, which are due to the subsidies shouldered financially by tax-paying citizens.

June 18

Sustainable Gastronomy Day.

Another operation against traditional, natural foods to pave the way for synthetic lab foods, caterpillars, cockroaches and worms.

June 19

International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Armed Conflict, 2015.

The UN has no right to talk about the elimination of sexual violence because its Bluehelmets have committed the most brutal rapes of women, men and young children wherever they went, supposedly in order to protect them from conflicts.

June 20

World Refugee Day, 2001.

The refugee narrative did not catch on as much as they would have liked. That’s why the pandemic came, to bring even the most insubordinate to their knees, to the Magnus Opus.

June 21

World Yoga Day, 2014.

Favorite practice of UN women executives, solidarity NGOs and Lodges.

International day of celebration of the summer solstice, 2019.

The relevant resolution is the culmination of the Lodges’ Ordology. In fact, it comes from the desire to enforce their holy holiday which is especially honored by our own Masonic Foundation and its Lodges nationwide and throughout Cyprus. (Pythagoras Bulletin, Pg. 292.)

International Parliamentarianism Day.

Methodical deception of the enlightened to make children and youth think that bourgeois democracies are real democracies.

International Nelson Mandela Day, 2009.

And soon we’ll see the celebration of the memory of… Hiram Abif, if not of him, certainly of some Chinese leader.

AUGUST

August 9

International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, 1995.

A wretched deception of the youth, because only the natives of all continents except Europe are considered indigenous.

August 22

International Day of Remembrance for Victims of Violence Based on Religion or Belief, 2019.

Blessing of Afro-Asian gay illegal immigrants in the eyes of Europeans as conscientious objectors, something they are constantly invoking, coached by NGOs, to get asylum.

August 30

Day for the victims of enforced disappearances.

Comedy for the naïve. Disappearances of citizens are organized by governments that serve the Guild, which, for example, Turkey did in 1974.

Another deception of the youth, as is parliamentarianism.

OCTOBER

October 11

World Day of the Little Girl, 2012.

By promoting only girls and homosexuals in all societies, at the expense of men, the new praetorians of the world state are being formed from their genocides, who will never rise up in arms against the tyrants. If they ever discover they have been used, they will have no idea how to react.

October 13

International Day for Natural Disaster Risk Reduction, 2009.

Opportunity for eco-terrorism.

October 17

International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, 1993.

It implies the migration of the poor populations of the whole Earth to Europe.

DECEMBER

December 5

World Soil Day, 2014.

Propaganda in favor of anthropogenic climate change seeking to gain consent to illegal African immigration to Europe, using as a justification the desertification of African lands. Also, with the same justification, animal husbandry and agriculture are demonized all over the planet and young people are indoctrinated to eat artificial laboratory foods.

December 10

Human Rights Day, 1950.

The greatest celebration of the dark priesthood, an opportunity to eulogize the mass genocide committed by the Jacobins against Vendée, which appears to this day as a victory of democracy against royalty. The nations of the countries that allow themselves to be led astray by the Guild will in no way be able to stand on their own two feet.

The same applies to the previous linguistic discrimination against the Greeks.

December 20

World Human Solidarity Day, 2006.

One of the most devastating UN resolutions for Europe which emphasizes that all countries of the developing world should take full advantage of the protection of human rights, including the right to development through… immigration.

December 27, 2020

International Epidemiological Preparedness Day.

An unthinkable celebration of terrorizing young people that was established on Dec 7, 2020. Its resolution mentions the phrases “One world, one health” and that “epidemics will continue, therefore importance should be given to their prevention”, apparently with a permanent surveillance regime.

Global Night

But apart from the UN, thousands of NGOs linked to it and other globalist centers such as George Soros’ Open Society, are constantly establishing new global celebrations, and a single mass-sent press release for each new celebration, reproduced verbatim in every mass media outlet, thus shaping public opinion and brainwashing the youth.

And some still wonder why young people don’t react! Parents must be vigilant now so as not to lose their children forever.

Here are some more of the official holidays of the world state of the hierophants:

February 1

World Hijab Day.

Invites all the women of the world to wear the Muslim headscarf for a day. The movement features an alleged New York Muslim woman as its inspiration, while it is financed by Islamic circles. On World Hijab Day, Islamophile Euronews especially featured it.

March 20

World meat-free day, by FARM (Farm Animal Reform Movement).

International day of astrology, by AFAN (Association for Astrological Networking).

April 8

Roma Nation Day, by ERRC (European Roma Rights Center) funded by George Soros.

May 1

World Cannabis Legalization Day.

May 17

International Day Against Homophobia, by ILGA World – The International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association.

June 27

International Gay Pride Day, again from the above association.

August 2

European Day of Remembrance for the Genocide of the Roma, proclaimed by the European Parliament.

August 8

World Orgasm Day, allegedly initiated by an American bisexual artist.

September 23

World Bisexuality Day, allegedly on the initiative of the American activist organization BiNet.

October 1

World Vegetarian Day, by IVU (International Vegetarian Union).

November 1

World strict vegetarian day, again from IVU.

As we said, here come the cockroach burgers for the guaranteed basic income plebeians. Don’t worry though, there will be a choice of brown or black…

November 20

Transgender Day of Remembrance, in honor of transvestites, hermaphrodites and asexuals.

It is not clear who established it.

November 28

World shopping abstinence day, allegedly on the initiative of a Canadian-Estonian.

Preparing the plebeians for the basic guaranteed income, which is a dress rehearsal for the ban on self-employment during the pandemic.

Conclusions

To summarize, we emphasize that the attacks against the Christian societies of the West, and especially against the European ones, are due to the influence of:

  • Ancient Chaldean, Babylonian and Egyptian magic
  • Hinduism, Buddhism and Hermeticism
  • Pythagoreanism, Gnosticism, and Neoplatonism
  • The fathers of modern European pedagogy: the millenarian and Rosicrucian John Amos Comenius (17th c.) and the freemason Erasmus
  • Jewish gnosticism, i.e. Kabbalah and alchemy
  • Jewish heretical Sabbatists and Frankists (or Zoharists)
  • The English Masonic philosophers and Alchemists as early as 1646 and the signatories of the American Declaration of Independence in 1776
  • The Martinists, the Rosicrucians, and the Illuminati of Bavaria
  • Millenarianism, cultural Marxism and Freudianism where together with the heretic Judaism shaped the ideology of the Frankfurt School
  • The international Jewish Lodge, Bene Berit, represented in the European Parliament, the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, the UN in Geneva, and UNESCO
  • Theosophism and esotericism
  • The hierarchy of the Catholic Church, the Church of Greece, and of the Phanar, many of whose members were not only eminent masons, but have now proven that they act visibly in favor of pan-religion and the world state
  • The technological giants GAFAM1 , and of posthumanism that they systematically promote, above religious, political, judicial, educational and cultural principles of the West, that have managed to significantly alter societies in the last thirty years. This was because the Guild and its communicating vessels acquired advanced technological means that they did not previously possess: The internet and information technology, satellite surveillance systems to prevent insurgencies, laser beam weapons highly effective for “seminars” of politicians who mutter something about disobedience (see Mati Attica, California, et al.), human genome-modifying vaccines, implants and more.

However, the spread of information and science and the great rise of spirituality of some people, is gnawing away at the posthumanist Magnum Opus, working against it.

And this, because as the Syntechnia and its communicating vessels see us, we now see them too. We may not see the top of the pyramid, but the cracks in their edifice are now deep and their undoing certain.

In the age of astrophysics, quantum mechanics, and the electric universe, they know, and we know, that all secret society narratives, with zero exceptions, are interpreted scientifically. As human, they are constructs, and therefore perishable and revisable.

All people can now have access to scientific knowledge, not just those in the Guilds. So the narrative of the guardians of knowledge is dead.

So what remains for the Rulers of Wisdom if they are stripped of their gaudy theatrics and carnival costumes? Only the art of enslaving the rest and the open will for genocide.

However, by destroying education themselves for decades, they are deprived of worthy officials with spiritual strength, having only oligarchic and egotistical subjects who are empty shells, who not only cannot articulate a persuasive speech, write and read correctly, who are only interested in material things. That’s why they will lose the game.

The murderous actions of the hierarchy and the despicable behaviors of its subordinates are now enraging more and more people who have spiritual foundations.

The time has come to put an end to all these crimes. Spirit (3) will overcome matter (4). The cone (1-3) caps the base of the pyramid (4), the cube-matter and they know it. And submissives are now crowded only at the base. This is why they tremble.

So as long as one pole stupidly thinks it is invincible, the other will rise spiritually. The collapse of the greatest conspiracy against humanity is only a matter of time, and there will be great losses here and there.

Eldress Galaktia: A blessing to the faithful

We present to you Eldress Galaktia, a saintly woman of our days whose list of virtues, spiritual sayings and counsels are as if taken out of the Lives of the Saints. In this eulogy from her repose in 2021, many of her gifts and “rewards” are revealed, including visitations by numerous Saints and a dialogue with the Most-holy Virgin. Eldress Galaktia lived “in the world” in anonymity for most her life, but God allowed her virtues to become known to us so that we would be inspired and encouraged in these days of increasing godlessness. For the world, she is proof that the Church is alive and continues to produce Saints.

A Eulogy for ELDRESS GALAKTIA

(March 5, 1926 – May 20, 2021)

by Archimandrite Antonios Fragkakis, Preacher of the holy Metropolis of Gortyna and Arkadia

Early yesterday morning a great and venerable person of Crete, who had loved Orthodoxy very much, shed her spider-veined and earthern skin as well as her perishable body – a body that she had crucified during her worldly struggles – and flew quietly into the arms of the Lord to receive from His omnipotent hands the rewards of her spiritual ascent.

After her 95 years of radiant life on earth, she was now in the arms of the Lord whom she fervently loved since childhood and whom she followed with Apostolic-like love and self denial. Perhaps, this was the first time this tireless lady allowed “her eyes to sleep and her eyelids to slumber” (Ps. 132:4 (131 LXX) – a lady who from the depths of her heart lived and breathed the goal of inheriting the Kingdom of God.

She was holy, she was charismatic, she was a true ascetic. Should we dare call her a martyr we will not be held in error. From her youth she fervently loved Christ, whom she followed like the faithful Myrrh-bearers. She earnestly applied His life-saving teachings and was fully quenched by the life-giving waters of His love. She served Him by living His example so that His most troubled brothers would follow her example of true repentance. She lived the Holy Trinity’s presence intensely and essentially, even though she was openly and violently struck by the raging waves that the low dragon stirred up during her life’s turbulent sea.

She cried a lot, she loved more, she worked on virtue, she gave herself unselfishly to her fellow man by joyfully offering them her weak skeleton to help shoulder their weights. She dried their tears, she corrected their desires, she lightened their conscience, she calmed their souls, she inspired holy desires, she enlivened the beauties of Paradise, and likewise was guided with parsimony through the fears of hell and assisted a multitude of souls to traverse into eternal life.

apple tree
Galaktia’s blessings to the faithful are like a heavy-laden tree, full of fruit

She was wronged but forgave those who wronged her; she was slandered as a deceiver yet she herself deceived the saboteur of men and overcame this vain world; she became a heavenly existence, a dewdrop in the Garden of Eden; and lastly she glowed with a sweet scent of incense, offered motherly smiles and blessed everyone. She taught like an energetic athlete, instructed like an experienced guide, and little by little the light of her existence left this transient life so it could rise up into another hemisphere, that of eternal life.

“How is Eldress Galaktia?” Elder Anastasios (Koudoumianos) of blessed memory asked me once.

“She has aged,” I replied. “She is bent over…”

“The branches of trees, once they are full of fruit, are likewise bent over” he responded. “The fruits are offered to all those around according to God’s will and as a blessing to the faithful members of the Church.”

Beneath her sweet, unpretentious and serene surface, bubbled a flowing river full of love and Divine life, which was made manifest by her penetrating and shining gaze, the brilliant light of her face, her most fervent smile, her angelic countenance, and the refreshment of her heart’s outpouring were magnetizing – so much so, that the more she tried to hide the radiance of her soul in obscurity of ignorance and worthlessness, the more God raised her on the lamp stand (Mt 5:15-16).

As a magnet attracts various metals, as the Sun attracts various satellites in the orbit of its influence, so too the Eldress’s reborn soul, unwillingly attracted around her innumerable souls that came to her and were influenced and transformed by her life. Her holiness was well hidden in her simplicity – a disarming child-like simplicity. As the humble manger’s straw in Bethlehem hid the greatness of the incarnate God, so likewise in this simple and humble soul Christ dwelt alive, and made her shine of holiness and spiritual wisdom. She had spiritual depth, the Holy Spirit flowed from her like a raging river through the channels of her soul. A deep and bottomless splash vibrated from the depths of her heart, and only by paying close attention could your “ears hear” (Mt 11:15) it and your soul draw from it to obtain and enjoy the secrets that flowed from this humble soul.

Still more, she would always cloak the most heroic acts of her life as simple and natural acts. Most of her decisions had the feeling of Golgotha, a heroic spirit and a sensational element. Yet Galaktia viewed them all “in faith” and lived through them “in silence”. For they were from the souls that called to Christ, not “crying behind Him” like the Canaanite woman, but in contrition, politely and calmly, like the woman with issue who was content to simply touch the hem of His garment (Mark 5:24-34). With the same contrition the Eldress Galaktia approached Christ and performed His works. That is why she always succeeded. Indeed, Christ did her favors. Her prayers moved mountains. Her utter faith in God’s providence “activated” Divine power within her and performed miracles.

Her Early Years in Pompia, Crete

pompia
The village of Pompia is located in south-central Crete, the largest island of Greece.

She was born in the historic and heroic Pompia on March 5, 1926. Her family background functioned as fertile soil for her subsequent spiritual development. Her father was a doctor and god-fearing man. Galaktia used to say: “I never boasted because my father was a doctor. However, I am glad to say that he was a real man and a Christian.” Without seeking pay he was compassionate toward human pain, and he inspired in his beloved daughter an ethos of sacrifice and selflessness. Her maternal grandfather was a priest. And what a priest – a Saint! – of the same spiritual stature as the Holy Elders Parthenios and Evmenios of Koudoumas Monastery. He lived in matrimony for two years and holy widowhood for sixty-six. His nous was so sanctified by asceticism and prayer, that he said with sincerity of heart at the end of his life, that he considered himself unmarried, because he was not accompanied by any memory of his short married life.

Holy Monastery of Koudoumas – holy Elders Parthenios and Evmenios – father Nikolas Fustanakis – Eldress Galaktia: an unbroken chain of transmission of the gift of hesychastic [from hesychia, quiet] life. Among the four distinguished daughters of the legendary doctor of Pompia, Michael Kanakaki, the third one clearly stood out: Galaktia. …

From a young age she was given to prayer. Unintentionally, secretly, she devoted many hours to prayer but also to the service of her neighbor. Her father’s surgery was considered an ideal place for her to practice “the sport of offering and to burn at the altar of sacrifice”. She took care of the wounds of the sick, sympathized with them existentially, encouraged them to be long-suffering, and secretly gave “from her own wealth.” The same was observed in the house. Galaktia was first to volunteer in everything. Whether it was housekeeping, tending the garden, bringing water, filling surgery orders. Her father, the doctor, seeing her always humble, silent, willing to do any work and indifferent in claiming rights and honor, hugged her and said to her affectionately: “My little Galaktia, raise your stature too. Do not let others take advantage you. I want you to have your voice.”

Her father treated her special; and she loved him. One day, however, at a young age, she said something to him that upset him. Galaktia confessed it to her grandfather the priest and he scolded her. The young Galaktia penanced herself harshly. She would lay face down on the wooden floor of the room and watered it with tears of repentance and begged the Holy Spirit to forgive her. Then one day, while she was in the depths of repentance, the uncreated light of the Resurrection shown in her eyes. At an unsuspecting time, as she went down to the warehouse to get something, a blue-white refreshing flame came unexpectedly from the sky and penetrated her head sweetly and peacefully. It went – as she said – through to her inner “soul”, opened her mental horizons and charismatically widened her heart (Ps 118(119):32). She felt her sins go away, like the dry leaves in the wind and how the strong wind scatters the dry bark from the trunks of the big trees. In this vivid manner is how she herself described this event.

It is understandable from a theological point of view that the heart of Galaktia, which was in great pain from the saving weight of repentance, was pulled hard from the nous and set afire by Divine love. From then on, a holy eros took hold of her that changed her whole life. She kept this great and decisive event of her early youth a secret until her 85th year, when she revealed it to us. It is obvious that God sent her the sweet fruits of Paradise and invited her to the crossroads, which end triumphantly on the wide avenue towards the Resurrection. After this shocking event she did not even want to hear about marriage! What she experienced was an inherent radiance, the first sighting of God that immediately sealed her life’s direction. She said: “When one tastes the holy cake, all other sweets pale in comparison.” And she tasted God empirically, hence she rejected with abhorrence and disgust the sensual pleasures of this world and always “avoided the pleasures of life.”

She acquired another measure with which to evaluate all human things, none other than the Cross of Christ. She was sweetened by the first signs of the immediate divine presence and ran incessantly to find the inexhaustible confectionery of Grace. Worldly grandeur, fancy dresses, majestic buildings, impressive garments, titles and the offices, projection and coquettishness, amusements and the sensual life, repulsed her to the point that oftentimes she would pretend to be ill to avoid them, not having another way to cover the richness of inner fullness.

She developed a special relationship with the Archangel Michael! The precarious health of her favorite niece Antonoula caused her to frequently send offerings to the Monastery of Panormitis on the island of Symi. She sealed the relevant request in a bottle and threw it into the sea. The request went to its destination by sea, and she received the informative answer from the monastery when the little Antonoula spoke the next day. Since then, her relationship with the Archangel was lively, direct, powerful and numerous and continuous miracles testify to this fervent, loving relationship. She threw another bottle into the Libyan Sea, which was found in a deserted church at Anopoli Sfakion (in Crete) and when this was made known the old abandoned church was miraculously renovated and started to function again.

The Archangel continuously showed his favor to the young girl. Once, when she was hard-pressed to accept matchmaking and was about to surrender, she embraced the icon of the Archangel in her bosom and fervently begged him to vigorously intervene and frustrate the match. His intervention once again was swift. There was an earthquake in the house, all the doors unlocked, and a noise disturbed the matchmakers and the family. Her revered father was finally convinced that speaking to Galatia about the matter of matrimony was ineffective and any other attempts would torment her.

Her fervent dedication to God became even more evident during the almost 40 years she lived with her niece Antonia. She loved this child as much as anything in the world. She attended to her almost sacrificially. The particularity of the situation made her already refined soul of Galaktia even more sensitized. She became Antonia’s guardian angel. Together with the child’s parents, she met her every need, like a watchful guardian on the ramparts of her integrity and was adorned with rose petals of her inconceivable love and offering.

She suffered a lot: Attacks by people, insults, ridicule, disputes. It is not easy to tend to a sick child with people treating you harshly and painfully. “Only I and my omniscient God know my cross,” she would say. Nonetheless, she showed them love and forgiveness.

A good swimmer, writes the fifth century Saint Diadochos Bishop of Fotiki, does not swim against the waves but dives below. She did not harm anyone, she did not hold grudges, she did not complain, she did not say anything negative. Above all, she did not open her mouth against anyone, and she did not keep in her soul even a trace of revenge. If anyone made her bitter or hurt her, none of us would ever know …

Spiritual labors

Together with her heavy Cross, she also cultivated asceticism towards the complete transformation of her heart. She maintained ceaseless prayer and communication with Christ, made innumerable prostrations and continued with ecclesiastical study. She also attended church from early morning and gave special emphasis to silence. Her nephew Nikos once said: “She prayed and fasted as much as all the nuns of Crete together.”

Her godly state and her most fruitful practice, especially her fiery prayer, echoed in the heavenly realms and imprinted the image of Christ on her heart. She regarded prayer as the most important time of human existence. She believed prayer was the strongest societal communication. For this reason, any surplus of agape * that she nourished toward the Savior Christ, she channeled into unceasing prayer. Prayer strengthened her. Through prayer she attracted Grace and increased the virtues of purity, humility, silence and love. Her prayer was so strong and powerful that sometimes, young children, during the Divine Liturgy, saw her bright and otherworldly, rising from the earth and the heavenly angelic brigades surrounding her and chanting with her.

The Pompians and the inhabitants of the surrounding villages of Crete loved and respected her very much. The famous Pompian Manolis Fustanakis, of blessed memory, once told me: “Even if we would examine Galaktia’s life under a powerful microscope, we will not be able to find any evil.” Naturally, as Adam’s descendant, she too had her weaknesses and her human faults. Yet hers were so innocent and childlike that you would overlook them with a smile, because her heart’s intentions were only to bring joy and comfort. Everyone admired the humble and virtuous doctor’s daughter, who burned like incense for others to smell, and melted like fiery beeswax candles to bring forth the light and the glow for the people to enjoy. But, if we wanted to render the greatness of the Eldress in a concise way, we could sum it up in few words: the incarnation of humility and love.

Virtues

She was truly humble. Bigotry never took hold in her soul. She did not have any complexes because she was free from complex situations, nor did she feel a sense of inferiority because she enjoyed mental fullness. A deep and holy virtue was observed and revealed in her the hospitality and tender-heartedness of herself and made her know herself. She always had the feeling that she was the least of all; she kissed everyone’s hand and asked for their forgiveness. She did not do this out of humility but, with full awareness of her insignificance, she thought that she was so lowly, worthless, and that she still lacked a lot, that she was not where she should be and could be. She was characterized by her good thoughts for her neighbor and ruthless self-criticism for herself. And God, who judges our struggles, lifted her from the depths of her nothingness, to the face of the incomprehensible divinity, because “those who humble themselves will be exalted” (Matt. 23:12) according to the infallible word of our Lord.

Her love was proverbial and incomparable. She loved everyone, especially the poor and the downtrodden, the lame and the cripple, the needy and the afflicted, travelers and the locals, little children and the elderly, and she discreetly showered them all with her gifts of love. And all this love gave birth to her most discreet alms. I freely confess that she was the most charitable person I have ever met in my life. She took her salary and immediately distributed it. She would say: “I have made an agreement with the Virgin Mary, that I should empty my house and that she should send me what I would need to spend each day”, “sometimes she was late to test me. However, I am not worried because I know that it will definitely come.” “And indeed,” she would continue, “after a few days, it would arrive. The Virgin Mary does not fail on Her word”.

An extraordinary meeting

Until her deep old age, she distributed, giving “to the needy”. Even as an old woman, although having been operated on both of her legs, she would set out a large pot of food so that the lonely old men and a sick old man in the neighborhood would not be deprived of a meal. That is why, shortly before the end, the Seven Archangels, who carry the saints prayers from earth to heaven, visited her. They introduced themselves to her by their names, she did not forget them but retained them in her heart’s memory: Michael, Gabriel, Uriel, Raphael, Phanael, Thanael. Uriel told her he guards the abyss. They raised their swords and made a road for her, as she said, to pass. She was taken to a golden palace. This is your dwelling place they told her. In the middle overflowed a golden vessel with crystalline water gushing forth.

“What is this?” she asked.

“It is the vessel of your heart,” they replied. “And it overflows from your purity, your silence, your humility and your mercies.”

Antonia’s falling asleep

Little Antonia’s early “falling asleep” cost her dearly. She cried constantly but was comforted by the hopeful expectation of reunion in eternity. In 1998 the Eldress’ health problems began. Due to her physical weakness, she could not take care of the child to the same degree as before. That year my lowly self was also appointed pastor of Pompia. We became very close, like a mother with her child, for twenty whole years. God gave her information in prayer: “I took your Antonia but I sent you an Antonios.” And indeed! I loved her as much as my natural parents, maybe even more. I felt close to her, her unwavering motherly affection and her unceasing care. May the barren ground of my soul be penetrated and bear the life-bearing sweet wine which I saw gush forth from her for so many years in her godly and angelic way of life. …

Relations toward others and prayer

She never boasted. She was aware, not simply of her insignificance, but her absolute nothingness. We found her many times to lament in repentance, slapping her face and calling herself “whore, robber, wretch, pitiful”. She was sad when they praised her because she thought that they did a great injustice to the truth, and went brutally against the just evaluation of God. She rejoiced in the accusations because she perceived them – as she said – as opportunities for correction, repentance and a salutary redefinition of her entire existence. She had established within her a rare and unobstructed factory of good calculations. He had a good reason for everyone. And the most difficult and scandalous actions, he did not pardon them, but kept silent and prayed for those responsible, when he was informed about them. “I am the greatest submissive before God – he said – and I have no right to judge anyone”. He found something good in everyone and that’s what he showed. She was interested in good reigning in the attitude of others and in the fabric of society. That’s why he finally escaped her and said: “I am burdened with sins and I hope only in the mercy of God, because I have grown old without works of repentance. However, for criticism, I think that I will not give a reason to God, the just judge!…”

She spent the last 20 years of her life in the fruitful practice of holy hesychasm and in the multifaceted implementation of the works of agape love. She lived in unceasing prayer. Her sleep was minimal, her meals even less. She spent her nights in prayer. Her nous, completely sanctified, went its original place, it went to its natural destination. It was activated in the bottomless well of the deep heart, as the Eldress herself described it. From there her nous was catapulted to the heavens. She penetrated sufficiently into God’s ineffable and amazing mysteries. She saw and enjoyed the abundant and bright Light of God, the inalienable glory of the Holy Trinity which is uncreated and homogeneous – as she said – and has no beginning and no end. The sun is but a lamp in front of Him by comparison.

She distinguished in that united, impossible Light, three lights, the hypostases of the Holy Trinity and made unique, empirical descriptions, which only the great Fathers of the Church dared to make. She saw bodiless Light, the Beginingless Father, the God-source. She saw the incarnate Light, the incarnate Word, and described with astonishing clarity His human characteristics. She also saw the third Light, the Holy and Life-creating Spirit, continuing and encompassing the Church, penetrating the hearts of the bishops and the priests stole, and raising them sufficiently in the midst of the prayers and tears of repentance. Pentecost day came – she would say – but has not left. The Holy Spirit moves about in the world with a loud bang, like the sound of “heavy breath” though nobody is paying attention, only those who have activated the secret mechanism of their heart.

With the “binoculars” of the nous and her most meticulous attention, she detected not only the heavens and the depths but also the hiding places of other peoples hearts. She had experiential knowledge of the degrees of heaven. “Heaven,” she would say, “has many degrees of grace that extend to infinity; they never end…” This means that she saw the alternations of the ages. She also let her mind descend to the fiery and dark kingdom of Hell. She saw many, but never disclosed who. “I light candles,” she would say, “I pray a lot and I try to move them into a better place, because they are mixed.”

She charismatically identified with the whole world and saw in herself her father Adam. As his descendant, she considered herself, to be the culprit for whatever bad is happening in the universe. For this reason, in the early morning hours, she made a long improvised, sensational prayer, which included the whole creation and every kind of people “under heaven”.

The radiance of her face and the sweetness emanating from her heart attracted a large crowd of people to her, especially young people, who came to her because they saw the everlasting and immortal vitality of a brittle and tired world: a spiritual and anointed soul in a skinny and old body. She herself felt like a mother. She especially embraced the most sinful ones, raising their hopes, strengthening their mind towards a spiritual repentance, emphasizing the endless dimensions of the Divine Mercy, and the infinity of God’s love in the world. She lovingly imprisoned convicts in the cells of her heart, in order to liberate them from the chains of their passions and to give them inner freedom. She did not, however, allow anyone to be discouraged. She repeated in her own way, the saying of Saint Nikon: “After departing this life, there is no possibility for repentance.”

Words of spiritual wisdom

Her legacies were simple and practical but full of spiritual wisdom and grace.

  • “The tongue is Satan’s best friend.”
  • “You need four things: love, humility, silence and secret almsgiving.”
  • “Confess as you should, so that the devil will not have any hold on you.”
  • “Let us not malign others, because then God will malign us when he returns to the world.”
  • “Pray with the prayer ‘Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me’, but add also the Trinity. I pray like this: “Father, forgive me, Jesus Christ have mercy on me, Holy Spirit enlighten me.”
  • “Whoever fears does not fear.” (That is, he who is afraid to sin is not afraid of anything.)

Contemplation – Her Theoria

The constant contemplation of God’s Uncreated glory, which the Elderess had to the degree of Deification, consolidated in her the sense of nothingness and an aversion of herself. At the same time the charismatic state of repentance as a mystery and a lasting experience was magnified in her. She would say:

“From my heart I can see what God is and what I am. God is everything and I am a nothing. I thank him, however, for showing me how messed up I am and giving me the opportunity to repent. I live the mystery of His Love daily, whatever I ask for He gives me. He does not deny me anything, even if I am His most naughty child. He treats me like a child bringing him good news. He takes care of me and supports me to the extent that I can not stand it, even though He ought to give me water to drink from New York’s sewers and not that from my own village because it is clean.”

The closer she got to God and empirically studied His unexplainable Uniqueness, the more she would lower in her soul her own self worth and cried rivers of tears seeking the mercy of God. And the generous Creditor endowed her from the storehouses of His Love with rare gifts: foresight, strong clairvoyance and prophecy.

She considered all these gifts to naturally be for everyone, because she had proactive purity and childlike simplicity. …

And the Eldress had a rare gift to discern the spirits, which defines sound Theology. She was considered a New Testament prophetess, because she was a true hesychast. She perfectly distinguished the difference between the psychological from the spiritual, between the created and the uncreated. She said:

“The demons come in various forms, especially when I pray at night. Sometimes they become horrible monsters and try to scare me and other times, especially in the beginning, they would disguise themselves as good spirits and try to deceive me. But their stench betrays them. Spiritual stench, which is not perceived by the physical sense of smell, stinks worse than that of worm-eaten animal intestines and 16-day-old rotten meat. The Divine strengthens the tears of repentance and humility, pacifies, and makes the soul stronger. The demonic ones, no matter how camouflaged they are, create turmoil, fear, pride, and you get caught up in the stench of nausea. Your insides are disturbed.”

Many times I saw her as being caught up in a state of Divine rapture, immersed by her heart in the here and there, and thrown into the celestial worlds bright and “unaware” for what was happening around her. She would say she could see that her natural eyes changed by the Divine Light that was brightly shining down to the depths of her soul, changing them, so that throughout her whole body, from the hair on her head to the nails of her toes, all her senses became one. Christ reigned everywhere and she did not know where she actually was during all the times that the Holy Spirit visited her. She would say definitively that “the tongue cannot describe these things and the mind cannot fathom them – neither could an angel’s mind understand. I wonder how there can be people who claim not to believe.”

The evil spirits’ stench that she sensed was due to the fact that she herself prayed mentally in her heart. She felt – as she said – her heart murmur, especially at night when she lived “intense spiritual rejoicings”. She was fragrant with the incense of the Holy Spirit, which is why she could discern the deathly odor and the foul stench of the unclean spirits. Through her hesychastic prayer she activated the Holy Chrism in her heart. This is what the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John means when he writes: “We have received Grace from the Holy one and we know Him (1 John 5:20). The Grace is the activation of the holy Chrism in the heart, mental prayer and the enlightenment of the mind, situations that when absent, the germ of conceit can easily enter the inner room (Matthew 6:6) and make man conceited and disintegrate by the worm of delusion, and become like a hollow meaningless fruit cake, and in the end be lost. …

The priests of our Metropolis, at least those who have spiritual discernment, loved her as their mother. And she loved them as her children. The miracles from her prayer… innumerable, but that is not for now. Let those who were benefited by her speak about them. I do not want my words to be considered a subjective alteration of reality and an emotional elevation of the moment [of her departure].

Someone indiscriminately recently said to her:

– “Too bad, Eldress, that I did not meet you earlier. A certain monk made mention of you during our meeting that you were in prelest, and that if we speak with you we will be contaminated!!!”

Yet the humble and forgiving Eldress, with surprise and spontaneity, without a trace of turmoil or anger, replied:

– “I wonder, dear child, why you should have known me earlier. I am no greater than others; rather, I truly lack in many things. What the father told you is true. He knows, he is an experienced person. But let him come and absolve me, so that I too can be rid of my sins.” …

The last years of the Eldress

And I now conclude my meager reference to the Eldress’ giant spiritual caliber, and continue with a brief depiction of the fiery sunset of her earthly life. This period was considered completely different from the previous years in this world’s journey. With her physical strength diminished and her spiritual one flourishing, she looked like very ripe and fragrant fruit. She embodied the apostle’s word: “Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day” (2 Cor 4:16).

“Only I and my omniscient God know my cross,” she would say.” … After a lifetime of caring for the wounds of the sick, and encouraging them to be long-suffering, the Eldress gave counsel and encouragement to others while confined to her bed in her last years.

She sensed the complete homogenization of her inner self. She was completely transformed into a “child”, in the spiritual sense of the word. She rejoiced with the little children, in the presence of those who loved her, she wondered about nature, the little ones of the neighborhood, the song of the birds, the sound of the rain, the rustling of the air, even the branches of the trees. She felt the whole creation in harmony with her heart, in communion with God. It is obvious that she had heard “the words of the beings” mentioned by Saint Maximos the Confessor. The heart – he said – has many sensory forces, which man ignores, as they are impeded by sins. When the Grace of God activates these mysterious inner-soul mechanisms, the Divine presence is actively observed in all the surrounding physical space. Then one realizes that even the soulless inanimate things of this world also praise the Creator, much like the Hymnologists, and the heart refined by Grace.

More recently, her universal motherhood had become more evident from the fact that she spiritually conceived and noetically gave birth to many contemporary Christians. Despite her old age, her spiritual antennae were attune and she acted with great discernment, prudence, and humor. She told high truths as a distillate of her life, but in a very clever and graceful manner, in order to guide others to salvation, without exhausting herself mentally and her maternal awakening having the best possible result with surgical precision. She never behaved like a teacher or a nun, though in reality she was an excellent pedagogue and an angelic person, who taught by simple examples, with deep meaningful content, with prayer, silence, subtlety and humor, self-criticism and discreet advice. She would say:

“I see everybody’s thoughts (λογισμοί). Some people come here just to scrutinize me and create problems for others, but I do not care. While they are here, I do not speak, I pray, looking into their hearts and I secretly embrace them with my love. They leave with good thoughts and most of them come back changed.”

When they routinely asked for her blessing, she would say:

“May you have the blessings of the Beginningless Father, His Co-Eternal Son, the Divine and Life-Creating Spirit, the Virgin, the Forerunner and the Baptist, who is the highest of all the Saints but also an austere visitor, of the Apostles and All the Saints. Be under the protection of the Celestial Powers. And if you deem my blessing worthy, may it be blessed.”

She talked about the passage into eternity. I would say she celebrated it and looked forward to it. She did not show any fear at the dread hour of her death. She had her eyes fixed on the great gate and walked steadily toward the Kingdom of the “Lamb”. She spoke laughingly about the end of her earthly course. She was preparing herself even more intently, in order to be “welcome”, as she said, in front of Christ’s Judgment Seat.

Sick, almost motionless and paralyzed, she continued to care and pray… for Christ’s Church; for the faithful; for the unbelievers and the heterodox who are “weary and scattered like sheep without a shepherd” (Matt. 9.36); for the tired and aged; for the anxious heads of family and for the troubled youth. In the summer of 2016 she said:

“I want to sit on the street to say goodbye to my village. I only have little time left to stay with you. But God who unites us all is eternal.”

Many young children would tell her, when they heard her saying goodbye: “We do not want you to leave. But even if you leave, don’t forget us.” And she would answer with a question:

“This, my children, happens only with the Saints. I am a sinner and I need your prayers. I’m aiming for a small opening. At the least, if I can squeeze in and enter there with the Virgin’s help, I will not forget any of you.” (Lk. 13:24)

The Holy visions, her bodily myrrh-streaming, and her visions of saints also increased very much, especially after August 2016. The four “horsemen” Saints, Menás, George, Dimitrios and Nikitas were considered almost her constant companions. She described them with simplicity of heart and astonishing accuracy. She thought that vision is a natural idiom of all people, and so we can all receive the same visions. She said:

“My child, Menás is a monster in height, a robust man, full, wide, with tanned skin, older than the others, with white hair on his head, and he is a leader. He is the leader of the group. George and Dimitrios are beautiful lads. Moderate in stature and about twenty-five years old. Nikitas is tall in stature and blonde. His hair looks like my grandfather’s beard, which looked blonde like flax.”

She described the bodies of their horses with golden saddles, their snorting noise, and the lively stomping of their hooves. On December 16, 2016, the Saints visited her and the house smelled of incense. She was presented with her notebooks, her “soul’s record”: With childish innocence she said, “Let me show them to you so you can see them! They shine!!!” 1

The most-holy Mother of God, accompanied by Saint Paraskevé, appeared to the Eldress and conversed with her about her departure from this life.

From December 16 until today, what didn’t we see, hear, or experience? On January 13, 2017, she was diagnosed with a severe lung infection. The attending physician examined her, gave her one night to live, and assessed the condition as pulmonary edema. The Eldress was bedridden and unconscious. Every now and then she woke up and spontaneously narrated some of her otherworldly experiences. Nine priests were present to perform the mystical service of Holy Unction, at which moment her room flooded with an ineffable fragrance. We had not lit incense, so as not to aggravate her respiratory dysfunction. The old woman happily revealed to her first cousin Katherine (Rethymniotaki) who was taking care of her, that she had received a visit from the Lady Theotokos and she was accompanied by Saint Paraskevi.

Our Lady told her:

– “Your suitcase is ready and your record is stellar. Your departure is imminent.”

– “Take me now, my Panagia, since I am ready,” the humble Eldress begged.

The Virgin Mother smiled and replied,

– “You received a small extension. I will take care of the matter soon.”

Even though the doctors had her life finished, she truly livened up. She sat on the bed and, imbued with the Holy Spirit, taught, admonished, strengthened and prophesied to everyone present – and there were quite a few! Earlier, when she had first awoke from her lethargy, she talked about a gift that Anthony the Great would give her on the evening of his feast! She invited some to attend that glorious moment of her life when she would “finally put on her wedding dress” and “a Bishop would put something on her head.” I personally connected it with her dormition, because she loved Saint Anthony and also because she couldn’t live much longer. I believed then that the extension mentioned by Our Lady was for three days until the Vespers of Saint Anthony…

What she would receive on her head, I connected with the indestructible Wreath of Glory from Christ’s spotless hands! And the wedding dress I interpreted to be her funeral shroud. An Athonite monk that was in attendance understood that she meant her putting on the Great Habit! Indeed, the service paradoxically and hastily took place during the Vespers of the Feast of St. Anthony the Great, after the sincere blessing by our Most Reverend Metropolitan Makarios. From then on, her worn-out aged body gained strength and she lived for about five more years. I placed a no entry sign on the door of her house, to protect her from the crowds, since because of the many wonderful things she exhibited, her charismatic fame had spread, quickly, to the ends of the world…

Even though her brain could no longer function, and there was no indication that she could hear or converse, she was obviously being informed in a supernatural way, and insisted that the sign be removed, “because it was important for the people to communicate” with her! We obeyed her command immediately, which had the effect of making her house a meeting point for all Orthodox people and a place of sharing wonderful events and paradoxical other-worldly manifestations of God’s omnipotence! Naturally, it also had the most painful consequence for me personally, that I suffered from the flaming arrows, “that I”, so-to-speak, was “exploiting the most-holy Eldress to promote myself”! And all of these, emanating from persons within the Church, from both locals and foreigners… To a certain degree this is expected and understandable! Those who did so with good intentions I excuse, and those who were vicious and insidious, from the bottom of my heart I sincerely forgive. And I beg they are forgiven by the heart of Christ, our righteous Savior.

Throughout the last years of her life, especially when she was completely helpless and bedridden, the rich gifts bestowed upon her by God and His energies were made evident when she reflected on them to us. Her excessive sacrifices which were beyond human measure for the love of Christ, brought her a multitude of heavenly rewards, as God is faithful to His promise to reward our good deeds! Thus, our Eldress, having been endowed with the gift of healing, healed the mental and physical ailments of the people, performed many great miracles, caused internal changes to her visitors, guided by the breath of the Holy Spirit!

She did not have advanced education, but because she purified the nous of her soul, she received spiritual wisdom, she developed the receptive power of the Logos, she acquired existential knowledge, she gazed at the image of the future and its secrets, she gained “solid faith”, therefore she was spent philanthropically and beneficially for any of her fellow human beings! Whoever manages to be united with Christ, generously scatters the content of this bountiful share with the rest of the world… That is, they are consumed daily for the benefit of their brother in Adam’s family of man, to willingly accept to be “a curse” (Galatians 3:13, Matthew 5:11) so that their fellow human will receive a blessing…

Her great love for the living and for the dead was initially manifested by her fervent prayer and sacrificial martyric ministry. Her spiritual completion however, transformed this exhaustive giving of self into an ever-increasing charismatic miracle. I will never formally mention any of the numerous miracles that happened to many, both known and unknown. The unbridled slanderous statements about her subjective heightening and enthusiastic and self-mythologizing of herself cannot be allowed to continue. Of course she was not infallible! Being a person of God does not mean they are infallible. A person of God continually struggles and constantly repents! It is no coincidence, after all, that repentance was her constant teaching, and the quintessence of her God-loving course! If the works of the Holy Spirit which were manifested through her are deemed to be constructive, then let their numerous recipients speak out about them. My own concern is the matter of her holy personality.

I think her long life can be summed up in the following simple sketch:

  • Throughout her life she had an ecclesiastical mindset;
  • She respected and obeyed the institutional persons of the Church;
  • She had good examples from her grandfather the priest and her parents;
  • She was very patient with her niece and God blessed her for this; He gave her many gifts;
  • The basic gift she had was that of self-denial, from which came compunctionate prayer and the prayer of the heart.
  • Most of her life was lived in obscurity,from her self-denial and prayer;
  • Without her realizing it, her nous was separated from her intellect (this increased during the years of her illness).
  • Thus, God’s gifts of clairvoyance, foresight, and the other spiritual gifts were bestowed to her in a natural way.

Because she lived humbly, in the Church, the Church will put her God-loving life to good use. There won’t be any need for me to take any action on her behalf, even though as in the case of the Eldress, a human being can easily deceive and seduce world orthodoxy. I cannot, though, be silent about her amazing miracle-workings, I cannot keep my mouth shut about her living theology. She expressed it to us simply in her intimate relationship with God, but loudly. All of these are summarized in the following examples:

azure
The Eldress oftentimes found herself engulfed within bright azure-white light

“Oftentimes I would find myself suddenly and quietly engulfed within bright infinite azure-white Light, when everything around me was shining brightly with a blessed, bright Light”!

I purposely use such words as much as possible, which when hearing them you thought, yes, you thought that the sweet mouth of Saint Symeon the New Theologian, Saint Gregory Palamas and so many other Fathers of our Church were talking to you.

“I lived inside God’s Three-fold glory, dressed in the God-woven apparel of Uncreated glory and the Divine Radiance of God’s Trinity, within the Everlasting and Uncreated Light; I do not know how I had totally become Light, but a Light that was without evening, a Resurrectional Light, plentiful Light without beginning and end. The rays of the intangible Uncreated Substantial Light were radiant and generous, with an inexhaustible purity so that all divine knowledge flooded my soul and I implicitly understood the secret mysteries of God and the glorious chanting of His myriad angels.

“I lived in the place of God and my heart was embellished by the same inexhaustible Light, beginningless and triune, through which the infinite little ones are adorned and surround the Powers…”

How, indeed, did these highly theological descriptions find themselves in a simple woman who had no academic study of theology? The splendor of the celestial powers, constantly transmitted to her with an uninterrupted flow, the inaccessible beauty of the uncreated divine Light within her created self. And she wore this Light like a divine garment, she duly became Light “from head to toe” according to her own confession! She lived from the Light, she drank from it, she perceived it as the coolness of pure water, she was satisfied with its superficial presence, she breathed it in like the oxygen of heaven!

“I lived in the deep sea of divine usefulness, of divine mercy, of divine love, which for me was considered both indescribable and indestructible. We can only say a few things; the sun is but a lamp in front of Him!”

These, and many more words that we heard from her which she allowed us to tape or have as a written treasure, unreservedly solidifies her status among the many blessed persons of our era as an empirical theologian and Eldress! An Eldress who taught with the utmost self-reproach and achieved the strongest spiritual maturity, by constantly comparing her lowly self with the height of the unspoken revelations she was deemed worthy to live and observe; this is why she wrote and behaved with the utmost humility, more than I have ever encountered. The simplicity of her speech testified to the excellent attaining of her goal, the goal of leading a Christ-like life, which she had set for her whole life.

She beheld a multitude of saints, a choir of Holy Fathers, St. Anthony the Great and his company, the heavenly Temple with its incomprehensible – as she said – illuminations and music. Her beloved Archangel Michael constantly appeared to her and strengthened her during the last stages of her struggle. The mystery is that he also appeared in person to one of the Eldress’ assistants, to strengthen her faith. He was assigned to the “exit process” and took liberties. And yesterday, peacefully and serenely, she closed her eyes to this fleeting life, only to reopen them in the brighter and clearer life of the enduring reign.

Into Your all-radiant Kingdom receive me in Your mercy,
I who have not done anything in my life to thank You,
but far from You I cannot live,
because I have loved You, because I love You…
– Nun Galaktia

Our memorable, ever-venerable and many-layered Elderess in Christ: …

Rest assured that the next generations will fix their gaze on you. They will feel you like a mother. They will become students of your hesychast legacy. And they will boast “in the Lord” (Psalm 5:12, Psalm 89:18 (88 LXX) because in the waning of the twentieth century a great star has shone again in Agiotokos Messara, able to illuminate with its radiance our spiritual path in the third millennium.

May your memory be eternal, until we meet again!!!

  1. St. Isaac the Syrian: “As long as we are in the place where altering is possible, let us observe ourselves; and while we have authority over our lifebook and our book is still between our hands, let us zealously add [acts of] beautiful behaviour, and let us scratch from it the loss of the old behaviour without freedom. We are allowed to scratch out faults, as long as we are here. And God will take into account every alteration we make in it. May we he deemed worthy of life everlasting before we appear before the king, and He puts His seal on the book. As long as we are in this world, God will not put His seal neither on our good works nor on our bad ones, before the hour of departure, when we have completed the service of our country and we prepare to strike camp.” (Mystic Treatises, p. 292. Tr. Wensinck, 1923)

St. Symeon the New Theologian: “God is truth and light. God’s judgment is nothing else than our coming into contact with truth and light. In the day of the Great Judgment all men will appear naked before this penetrating light of truth. The ‘books’ will be opened. What are these ‘books’? They are our hearts. Our hearts will be opened by the penetrating light of God, and what is in these hearts will be revealed. If in those hearts there is love for God, those hearts will rejoice in seeing God’s light. If, on the contrary, there is hatred for God in those hearts, these men will suffer by receiving on their opened hearts this penetrating light of truth which they detested all their life…” Source

The ultimate goal of ecumenists is to mix-up the faithful

The devotees of the pan-heresy of ecumenism have literally gone wild in our day. Until yesterday, they pretended to be pious and traditional. Today, however, they have thrown off their sheepskin disguise and let their real intentions be seen clearly.

We cannot even keep up with counting their demonic innovations! They hardly give themselves a rest, thinking up some new way to confuse the consciences of the faithful even more.

Most of our woefully uninstructed people are, unfortunately, unable to distinguish factual truth from the pseudo-truths of the ecumenists, and thus they very easily fall victim to the traps set by the antichrists.

To be sure, the ecumenists also talk about love, but not in the language of the Disciple of Love, John, who forbade even saying “good morning” to heretics (2 Jn 1:10).

The ecumenists also talk about peaceful co-existence with heretics and non-Christians. However, they insultingly despise our holy Fathers, who applied the condemnations of defrocking and excommunication even for simply entering a synagogue or a mosque. The ecumenists also talk about synodal decisions. They express more, however, the decisions of the so-called WCC [World Council of “Churches”], than the decrees of our Ecumenical Councils and the Tradition of our Holy Fathers.

Our beloved Saint Paisios used to say: “When all sorts of unrelated people – sorcerers, fire-worshipers, cultic religious types of all persuasions – enter into the mix and attempt to work together, how can there be a common purpose or a common ground for peace? God forgive me, but such things are the devil’s rags. Can peace be achieved through sinful association? How can there be peace when people are not reconciled with God? Only when man is reconciled with God can inward and outward peace come.”1

Ecumenists also talk about “churches”, but not the Church as defined by the Creed and the teachings of our Holy Fathers. They recognize the heretics as “churches” and, with their signatures, mock the uniqueness of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, which is our Church, the Orthodox Church.

Ecumenists also talk about majestic con-celebrations and fervent prayers. Their minds, however, are on con-celebrations with heretics, and their daily practice of praying together with the deceived – and even with people of other religions.

Their ultimate goal is to mix-up the faithful: They assure us that “all religions are ways to salvation”; they light candles in synagogues; and they describe the Koran as a “sacred book”. They mix-up the dogmas, alter the fundamental values of the Orthodox, and in the end change our Faith!

And we, baptized Orthodox Christians, in the face of this unprecedented apostasy, what do we do? – Or, to say it better, What should we do, what is our duty and our obligation as members of our Church?

Father Athanasios Mytilineos of blessed memory used to say in such a case: Woe to him who does not react. However, what is observed today in our parishes and in our monasteries is generally the complete opposite: The majority of the confessors and abbots advise their spiritual children that all we need to do is pray. They say, Go into your inner room and pray (Mt. 6:6). You do not need to talk.

Yes, “pray”, our venerable elders, however prayer does not go by itself. It goes with “be watchful” (1 Cor. 16:13, 1 Pet 5:8, Rev. 3:2). Watch and pray (Mt. 26:41, Mk. 14:38, Lk. 21:36).

Is it a coincidence that one of the last admonitions of Saint Porphyrios to his spiritual children related to the danger of losing their souls by the demonic heresies? (Testimony of his disciple, Mrs. Sideris.) Or perhaps the exhortation of Saint Theodore the Studite to resist the deceptions of the heretics is just a coincidence, and is he, in teaching us that “the instruction of the Lord is not to keep silent in times of endangered Faith” (Eph. 5:11), old-fashioned and obsolete?

The unsurpassed worker of the anti-heretical struggle, Fr. Charalambos Vasilopoulos, thundered:

If we want to be with Christ, we must expose the antichristian ecumenism! For every action, every move, and every work which is not in line with the Orthodox Faith, it is necessary to raise our voice of protest and denounce it!

Also, in a letter addressed to then ecumenical Patriarch Athenagoras, Blessed Fr. Epiphanios Theodoropoulos wrote:

When did our Church include in her numbers together with the Orthodox Bishops the bishops of the heretics? Do you speak the language of dogmatic and canonical accuracy or that of the flexible diplomatic hypocrisy? Are you a bishop or a diplomat?

And to close this short address about our ecclesiological and spiritual obligation to vigorously resist the calamity of the pan-heresy of ecumenism, we will appeal to the unrepeatable guide whom we follow, St. Kosmas the Aetolian:

All [other] faiths are false, counterfit; they all are of the Devil. Only the faith of Orthodox Christians is good and holy.
